How do I use the info from the heart rate monitor to calculate how many calories I'm burning?

which one did you get? for mine I entered in my weight and my upper and lower heart rates. I turn it on during a workout period and it shows me calories burned automatically. Also shows me how long I was in my target heart rate zone, approzimately0

I have a basic Polar HRM which doesn't tell me how many calories I've burnt however I can access a website on my phone that can work it out and its pretty much in line with the exercises shown in myfitnesspal app. What you should be using it for is to monitor your heartrate during exercise. I use it so I can stay within a good fat burning range foe me which is 142-150bpm.0

I wish I'd asked a few more questions when people were recommending I get a heart rate monitor. :-( The one I got doesn't do anything but tell me my heart rate.0
