Greeting...
I just joined yesterday after finding out about this site from my "boot camp" instructor. I've been doing "boot camp' for 5 weeks and haven't lost anything....definitely more muscle tone but I haven't changed my eating habits and that needs to happen for me to be successful I now realize.

A little about me...
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's and thyroid cancer 6 years ago and I have three kids: 4 year old twin girls and a 10 month old boy. After my thyroid diagnosis I ballooned up 40 pounds and then gained another 40 pounds after (yes, AFTER) having the twins. I am now 80 pounds overweight and need to lose it because I'm too young to keep living this way!!!!! (I'm 33).

I'm glad to see how supportive this website is.

Sidenote...
any vegans out there? I would like to follow a low fat vegan diet as suggested by The Physician's Comittee of Responsible Medicine and The Cancer Project (www.cancerproject.org)

I would suggest you start slow, and make small changes. I started 'dieting' at 28 and was still fat at 47. It was only when I made a choice eat better and exercise more that I saw real results. When I say real I mean HEALTHY!!!

I cant tell you how many times I jumped on a bandwagon, Veggie as one of them, but the bottom line is if you eat meat each day of your life for 33 years, you likely will not be able to just eat veggies starting tomorrow morning at 8 am.

If this is truly the way you want to go then start with 1 day. Today. And add others as you go along. My friend went Vegitarian, and it took her 6 months. But she has never touched meat since!!

Good luck to you!. Please remember all opinions expressed here are just that, our opinions and experiences!

Guess I should also mention that I was vegetarian for most of my life....even vegan in grad school. I started eating meat while training for a marathon about 7 years ago because they told me I needed more protein. Once I was diagnosed with cancer, I quit caring what I ate and have been eating meat ever since.

Great title "Over Fat and over tired of it!" Its exactly how I feel, I have 100 pounds to lose and I'm 35 and feeling much the same way! Love my meat though!
