Hi, I am new to this website and this is my first post. I was just curious about what other peoples ideal weight for them is, that are the same height as me. I want to lose about 15-18 pounds which would make me 120-125 lbs. I don't think that it is a bad weight loss goal for me, but I constantly am questioning myself if it is to low because of so many people telling me to stop losing weight. My whole life I was a Big GURL and people were always telling me to lose weight, but now that I have dropped 48 lbs they tell me to stop. Which is pretty annoying. I want to lose weight because I want to fit into a size 8 pants and because I am in the Biggest Loser contest with family and friends and the pot is $240. So I really want to win!!! But ya, I want to know if any other opinions think it is to low and to see what your goal weight is??? thanks to anybody who gives me advice

Hi and welcome! If you search "5'7," you should come up with several recent threads that have been circulating about ideal/goal weights for 5'7 ladies. Hope this helps!0

I am 5'7' SW 233 CW 194 GW 145 but when I get down to 160 and in a normal range I will reevaluate and see how much lower to go or if I should then focus on getting muscle and lower body fat percentage rather than weight.0

I am 5' 7" tall. 136 lbs is my goal. Regarding the lowest I would ever go to, I have been 126lbs before, I would never go below that.0

not sure? I used to think if only I could lose 30 lbs, I would be so much happier! but I ended up losing much more than that and still feel the need to lose more! when I like what I see in the mirror, I guess0

All my family and friends are all shorter than me so its great to hear other peoples goal weights that are my height!!!! I guess in the end I goin to still aim for 120-125 just to test it out, hopefully I wont look sickly but I think 125 should do it.... cuz i gots to get rid of the stubborn thigh fat!!!!! thanks everybody for your much appreciated comments!!!!!0

I'm just a touch over 5"7 and my goal is 160. Wow, maybe I'm not being realistic? Maybe I need to lose more??? It's been so long since I've been even under 180, I thought 160 sounded pretty dang good, but maybe not??
Well sounds like I may have to readjust as I get closer....0 -
Strength training is your friend! I personally think that most people who are 5'7" look too skinny at 125. But one thing that is certain is everyone carries it very differently. I have a couple of friends who are 5"3-4, weigh about 125-130 and wear a size 4.
You can definitely be at a much high weight and wear a smaller size. Strength training will help you with this absolutely. You will look more compact, even if you are much heavier, and if I am correct to assume, you are mostly concerned with measurements and clothing size. Focus on reducing fat and increasing muscle first, and less about the scale as you get closer to your goal.
I am 5'5". when I weighed ~170 and did a ton of walking hills, I wore a 10-12. When I did less walking, at a similar weight I wore a size 14-16. So my goal is actually a size 8-10 and 160 (even though that may seem high) - I tend to carry a lot of muscle.
So really evaluate your body composition and frame and get on the strength training bandwagon. It makes a huge difference.0 -
I'm 5'8" and hit my goal weight of 155, might try for 150 though. But i have a larger frame. When I was 135 in high school, I wore a size 8/9, so I have big hips. I am now happy in a size 10/11. I personally woudln't want to go under 145, feel like I would lose my curves.0

I'm also 5'7'' and currently weight 152. The heaviest I've been was 175. I'd like to get to 145, my goal weight, but lately, I'm focusing more on my fat % and clothing fit. I feel good at this weight but am still a little soft around the edges, even though I'm quite athletic :bigsmile:0
