I need help my MFP Friends!
I've been having a lot of difficulty losing weight... in fact, I've managed only to lose about 10 in approximatly the last 2 years. I've weighed 140 for almost a year now. I tried the South Beach diet for the past two weeks, which invovles illiminating all breads, rice, cereals, pasta, all fruits, all sugars/sweets, carrots, corn, peas and potatoes. My diet has consisted of protein and veggies. I've managed to lose 4 pounds in the last 2 weeks. I reintoduce a slice of whole wheat tortia wrap into my diet and BOOM! Four pounds gained!! I'm back to square one! I'm really upset and don't know what to do. I eat healthy and I excercise. I don't know what gives! My food and excerise diary are viewable by MFP members. Care to give me your output?
Much appreciated!

I dont really know what to tell you, but I felt sad for you that no one replied lol. Maybe ask your doctor?0
-
Sorry, your diary is not open for viewing0
-
add me...i'll be your buddy and see what i can do to help..0
-
I just tried to view your diaries and they're not available.0
-
Can't help unless you make your diary public.0

If you open up your diary people can take a look and offer suggestions. But a tortilla does not contain 14000 calories and so is not the cause of a 4lb weight gain. Your weight gain is more than likely water.0
-
Would you like feedback? Would you consider opening your diary?0

I agree that you should consult your doctor. If you're dieting that hard and not losing there may be some food sensitivity going on. I wouldn't recommend trusting random advice from the forums here. There are too many unqualified "experts" posting advice here.0

Your best bet it to switch up your workout. Sometimes your body gets use to the work out that you do and doesn't burn as many calories. Try doing another type of cardio, and sometimes try and push your cardio work out, that is the key to loosing the weight. Count how many calories you are eating a day and try and burn that many calories at the gym. I learned that if I push myself at the gym more the weight comes off faster than giving up bread and such things. (i love my bread) Were all here for you keep up the great work!!!!

Only thing I can think of is that your body may be trying to hold onto your weight. I think our bodies need a healthy mix of nutrients to include some carbs and things like that. For me personally, I am not cutting out anything, just eating in moderation and making sure to track everything. Have you been tracking what you eat? I tell you it makes a HUGE difference. I know that I tend to think I didn't eat much when in reality I am over my calories for the day. Don't give up. But I would try to track your calories. Maybe you aren't eating enough calories? I don't know your information so I am only making guesses. If that is the case, your body is going to gain back a few pounds until you get your metabolism stoked again. You could have slowed your metabolism down. Hope you figure it out.0

Dont give up! Your on the right path! Are you also incorporating exercise? The weight gain is most likely water. Carbs allow the body to retain water so don't fret too much! I sometimes observe a 5 pound fluctuation in 24-hours due to carb intake!0

After not being able to lose an ounce, (for a while now) I've decided to quit being so pig headed and take the advice of a lot of peeps here on MFP and eat more. It's a hard concept for me to grasp but you may not be eating enough. Add me and I can at least cheer you on!0

Sorry everyone! Didn't realize my diary was on 'friends only." it's public now.0

I would suggest to follow the calorie guidelines on mfp. I tried low carb and you do lose alot of weight but like you said, once you start eating carbs again, you will gain weight. This low calorie has worked for me and so far i have done it without exercise.0
-
I would switch up your excercise. Something new, like kick boxing or yoga, Your body gets used to a work out so you do not burn as many calories. Try reading the "kind diet" by Alicia Silverstein. I dropped from a 8 to a size 6 and it was life changing for me.0

You probably don't wanna hear this, but how about eating your exercise calories? Give it a shot!0
-
Eat a balanced diet (i.e., more carbs than you've been eating) with a moderate calorie deficit.0

Totally off topic, but we have a bunny that looks almost exactly like yours!!0

looking at your diary, I would not say that you were doing Phase I of SBD...you should have 1 to 2 cups of veggies with every meal, a lot less peanuts and no tabouleh...I am not saying what you ate is unhealthy but it should not be categorized at south beach diet, phase I. The first 2 weeks are to reduce your sugar cravings while still eating nutritious, whole foods, lots of veggies and lean protein.0

Your total calories each day are a little low. But your carbs are REALLY low. (Obviously )
It's just water weight. Give it a couple of days.
Carbs are not evil. You need carbs to give you energy to fuel your body and your workouts. As long as you stick to your calorie level. Eat.
You have less than 20lbs to go, but you are still also set to a 2lb per week loss. You should lower that to 1 lb or even .5 lb per week. The last 20lbs are the hardest because most people try too hard. Your body doesn't want to let go of the calories that fast.
You are not eating a lot of processed foods. That's great. Keep that up.
Stick with it, you are doing great.0 -
I looked at your diary and it seems like overall it is relatively healthy, but I did notice that even though you are under your calories you are often way way way over your fat content from peanuts and peanut butter. I imagine anyone would have tough time losing weight eating 1000 calories worth of peanuts. Even the South Beach Diet only recommends eating something like 20 nuts at a time. Replace the calories from peanuts and peanut butter with some fish, chicken, or tofu and see what happens.0

the only advise I could give you is not to diet... cutting this or that out of your daily fuel is really not healthy - research shows that most people who go on such diets, gain the weight right back and sometimes they double it...
I agree with whom ever said to switch up your workout - add some weights to it if you haven't already - do some research, i always recommend www.bodybuilding.com but only because I am right now following a woman's fat loss regimen and it is working. <--- best of all is free - I things don't work for everyone the same, you just need to find what works for you but at all cost in a healthy way
best of luck!!!0 -
I too have been stuck on a plateau for almost a year. I have recently started working with a trainer and he says I am not eating enough calories for the workouts I do. Maybe that is your problem?? He also said that sometimes when you stall at weight loss you need to gorge and then start all over again. Hope that helps you......:ohwell:0

According to your weight ticker, you only have 11 lbs to go.
With your height and bone structure, are you sure you can go down that low? How tall are you? How would you describe your bone structure?
Re-evaluate the height/weight charts and your BMI. Perhaps losing another 11 lbs will have you underweight. You might not be losing the weight because you're body doesn't want to be underweight.
If 125 lbs. has you at a healthy weight, I would suggest switching up your exercise routine.0 -
I've always had trouble losing weight, I can put muscle on like a mother f@3ker which isn't the same, not in my case anyway. After five of my friends did the HCG diet successfully was when I started to do my research. I'm on day two, from yesterday to today, I've lost 4 pounds, and I'm not hungry. I am a foodie to the core, and I'm doing great with this diet. If nothing else works for you, after you see a doctor, I recommend this diet.0

How tall are you? 125 is a very low weight, and not going to be easy to attain.
I think you should consult a professional dietician and trainer if you are that stuck but still insist on the 125 weight.0 -
You posted on another thread that you are 5 foot 9...that's pretty tall. Your body might not healthfully be able to get below 140.0
