Hey Hey, look, there is a [Search] functionââââââ

I am sorry, but I love to browse through the forums and it seems to be infiltrated with the same topic (i am eating 1000-1200 calories, , working out like a mad person and i am not losing weight), over and over and over and OVER again (which i have read a times and taken the help as i am in the same boat).
If you use the Search function, type in what you want to post, you will find a PLETHORA of posts on the subject.... just type "not losing weight" and you will find tons and tons of post and answers.
Not trying to be rude, it just seems like rather then typing the same post over and over, one can read the bazillion other posts (and helpful replies) on the subject.
There, i said it....

Hey, hey, look, there are people that don't mind giving people a personal answer and seeing how conversation pans out!0

Surely before you posted this you saw in your search how many times this has been said as well.... right?0

LOL - i did, but posting [bump] just didn't seem as fun at the moment. had to get it out of my system. stepping off my soap box now0

@OP: I share your frustration...:explode:0

I'll try to be the peacemaker here.
Everybody is right.
Why? Because how MFP forum is designed and organized.
I'll try to highlight what is not available rather than what it is.
- lack of active mods -> nobody reading important or very worn posts/subject -> stickies
- sub-formus non existent -> really hard to narrow the search or what I wish to find.
- no favorites
- no search into a specific forum or advanced search
- no merit points or any kind of activity evaluation of a poster so you'd know what to expect from him
and list goes on and on.
Basically this a very basic forums where we'd like to have more development considering the huge traffic and affluence of people.
I love MFP and I'm here every day but very often I'm stuck because of lack of options and I give up.
Now enough with the criticism. What can be done?
This is something that I wanted to say for a long long time and I find this post to be a good opportunity.
Definitely devs and designers have to do more work but why or for what? They did enough trying to create this and keeping it alive.
My personal opinion guys - NO FUNDS.
Can we help? Ohhh yeahhh. How?

Now like the OP - I said it.

I think you should take your own advice. If you would have searched for this topic you would have seen that this sort of thing has been posted before :P oh the irony...0

LOL. i already feel better0

I agree with you that it can get personally annoying.
However, methinks you don't understand WHY MFP works. Its the *interactive community* part, silly!
I mean really, searching on *google* would certainly be a better source of information than searching on MFP. And most folks on here know that. They ask questions, yes, the SAME questions, on MFP, because they want people TO RESPOND! They don't want to just read a paper or a blog post, they want real people to (virtually) talk to them. Its like hanging out with your buds and having the same conversations over and over again. You *could* just audio record a few and play it back, in your house. Alone. It *would* be more efficient, but its more fun to do it with others.
That's why MFP works. That's why people keep coming back.0 -
it really bothers me when someone answers one of my posts with "use the search button"
this forum wouldn't exist if we all used the search button 100% of the time b/c i'm sure every topic is covered to some extent in the past. some people prefer a fresh perspective, or advice on a specific situation that might be similar to someone else's. if it bothers you so much, don't read the posts that people write that have to do with "old" topics.0 -

WOW! This is only about the 100th time I've seen this same post. Why bother, go workout, get your mind off of the crazy world of search functions...relax!0

I'm pretty new, but I totally agree with this. It's not just the information that's useful, it's the support people give you personally that's important. Also... since, as many people have pointed out, this has been posted by others, surely it's a bit strange for the OP to post something that's already been discussed which they could have found with the search button yet not to understand that other people may want to do that too? We all need our rants at times!
And that is mine over with0 -
Somebody that had the courage to say it. Thank you for your support.
So do we have to expect more from the forum, rest of the website and mobile apps?
I tried every android app on the planet for food tracking and yes MFP is no. 1 but it is not the best. There are so many possible improvements. I mentioned them over and over again in tech support forum. No answer and no action.
That's why I mentioned DONATION. It should maybe come from us because we use it not the sponsors.
My personal opinion guys - NO FUNDS.

"I think you should take your own advice. If you would have searched for this topic you would have seen that this sort of thing has been posted before :P oh the irony.."
that was so 30 seconds ago(had to say it)
"We all need our rants at times!"
i agree and the OP was mine. Now it is done and you know what, tomorrow when i see the 99th post on "i cant lose weight" i wont cringe because I spoke my peace. that is just me, things bug me and i get it out of my system.
you know, like when someone has a huge scar on their face and you cant help but look at it and wonder what happened, well, i am the one that will ask about the scar and once i know the background, it doesnt bother me anymore and i dont even see it - that is one of my "faults" we all have them, i am willing to admit to mine
now, you may now resume what you were all doing before i came out from hiding...0
