I usually just have time for coffee in the morning. I use no calorie sweetener and a little bit of milk. Is this bad for me to have only this for breakfast? Thanks!

No, assuming that by the end of the day you're consuming a well balanced diet.

Not if it is working for you, it isn't.

Log the calories of the milk, and then eat healthy when you do eat. When you eat isn't nearly as important as WHAT you eat, and HOW MUCH.

Trying to change your food schedule might make it harder for you to cope with weight loss. Keeping your morning ritual might help. Do things that make it work for you.
  • Nothing wrong with it at all. Many have had great results with intermittent fasting (check out leangains.com) where all of the daily calories are consumed within an eight hour window. I've tried it before, but I like breakfast too much.

That's all I had for breakfast this morning.
  • Breakfast isn't a time of day, it's a break from your fast (usually over night/sleep). If your "break fast" isn't until lunch, there's nothing wrong with that, just more time for your body to oxidize fat.

Speaking with a voice of experience of spending yrs--um gonna age myself here when I say
even decades of not eating breakfast. And I have been struggling for the last couple of yr to get into a better habit of eating breakfast, because so I have been told,
via a diet program I was on a yr ago, breakfast is called thus because it breaks the fast our bodies endured
while we slept, which gives way to our glocuse levels being low and our metabolism slowed. And its
our morning meal that actually jumps-starts our metabolism and revs it up for the day. Now I presume any other meal can
and or will rev up your motabolism, but the sooner you get it jump started, the more calories you are going to burn through-out the day. Anyrate, that how I understand it, so I do literally force myself to eat in the mornings now.

when do you eat for the first time in the day?

Breakfast is too important, it starts your body in the right direction as long as it is a good breakfast, good carbs and protein.

Your TDEE is going to be the same regardless of when or how often you eat based upon your weight,, LBM, age, gender, and activities both NEAT and exercise. Eating during specific times of the day or a certain number of meals has no effect on total calories expended, but it does have an effect on where you body derives those calories, whether they come from food currently in the digestive tract, glycogen stores in your liver and muscles, or your adipose tissue.
  • Coffee for breakfast use to be my only breakfast. However, after talking with a personal trainer she told me I need to eat breakfast because it is what fuels your body for the day. My trainer recommended I start small and work my way up so I could get use to routine and consumption. I still have my coffee cause it is my drug..lol.. I started with a protein or cereal bar. I now have either two scrambled eggs or a small bowl or cereal or oatmeal. It definitely does give your body more energy when you eat breakfast. It is always hard for me getting 3 kids off to school then myself off to school. So I just wake up a little earlier and prepare everything before we all have t leave for school. As I am leaving my husband is coming in from work. SO our house is crazy busy at times. You just have to make time for your adjustments..lol

I'd rather have the extra time in bed and eat my breakfast at lunchtime! Coffee only here too, unless I'm off work and don't have to get up at stupid o'clock  Means I can have more food later on while I'm actually awake too!
