I'm wondering if anyone else is RAW? I have been eating like this since Nov 2011 and it has been the most wonderful eating choice I have made.
Main diet consists of raw fruit, veg (salads, smoothies & juices), sprouted seeds/pulses, raw nuts & dehydrated goodies. I also make raw bread & pizza bases. Super yummy stuff.

I havent been eating just raw...yet....but the more I read about processed foods and understand about them, it makes me want to eat mostly raw. I will say I LOVE munching on fruits and veggies for my snacks. Currently eating celery and green peppers. Love the crunchiness. :) What benefits do you feel eating raw has done for you? I need more of a push to do so. :)

Sounds like you're on your way to explore RAW as an option!
I was challenged to go raw for 2 weeks. I got stuck in with all my might and just could not stop. I struggled a bit over Xmas but back to it now. I would honestly say my diet is at least 90% raw.

I felt quite tired initially but it was soon nudged aside by the most amazing energy. My hair changed for the better, my nails have been stronger and my skin became unblemished. Eating raw takes quite a bit of planning and effort at first but one does get better at being organised. The sprouting of chickpeas, bulgar wheat etc takes time, so you always have to make sure your sprouts are sprouting. I also purchased a dehydrator which is awesome. Milk was replaced by homemade Almond milk. Super easy to make yourself which is what I do. Almond milk in smoothies is just da bomb!!
Tea & Coffee replaced by herbal teas & water.
Spirulina for protein. Chorella to remove metals from your body during detox. (tablets as powder is horrid)
Dried dates for sweets, lots of fresh herbs like mint, thyme & coriander! The greener the food, the better!
I have learned to appreciate food all over again. It has helped me to loose 7kgs (15lbs) in 4 weeks and I've kept it off! It is just such a natural way to eat... makes perfect sense!
I hope this is a bit of a push.... You'll love it!!!

    dehydrated food=raw?

I thought dehydrated food isn't raw....I am so ignorant about this kind of eating...I am just curious.

Just as I was surprised to learn vegans won't eat honey.....

LOL... dehydrated food have had the moisture removed below a certain temperature which does not effect the nutrients of the food item. It becomes more concentrate. It is a slow process. I eat raw honey as most honeys' have been pasteurised through a heat process. Very interesting actually! Have a nosy at this website... www.rawlicious.co.za. There are so many raw websites & demo's on YOUTUBE. Worth a read

I did raw vegan for about 6 months.... and I'm seriously flirting with returning to raw.

it is wonderful, but food-prep intensive. and, I love my Excalibur dehydrator, but planning ahead is so not my forté...

I rely a lot on green smoothies. Be sure to get plenty of greens in your diet... and don't rely too heavily on dehydrated treats... yes, prepared right they are raw, and nutritious, but they lack the water your body needs in its food.

Dehydrated food is still considered raw if it never went above 115F... most raw foodies dehydrate at about 105-110F, just to be safe. It takes a quality dehydrator with a reliable thermostat to do it (cheap ones tend to dehydrate at over 150F, which does cook the food).

Side note: Raisins labeled "Sun dried" aren't necessarily - but they are dried at low temps, and thus are "raw".

i think i am kind of scared as to the time it takes to prepare. i will also say some of the names of recipes and pictures didnt appeal to me...lol. So, I know I wont go 100% raw but if my days can be all raw and my dinner somewhat not, I think I would be okay with that. Do any of you who are doing or have done raw, have people in your home that have made it hard to do so? I feel like one struggle would be that I would be eating one way and the others, the "other" way.

Day to day I am 80%-90% raw with spurts of 100% in between. Yes the prep work can be time consuming, but the physical benefits are incredible. After you detox out the processed food your energy is sky high! The key is to get some good "cook" books and make sure you get lots of variety instead of just "sticks".

After watching Food Matters I would love to try to eat raw.. I am determined to challenge myself for a month, but I am just not sure when that will be. I have never heard a bad thing about it if done correctly. That's just a lot of research and preparation that I'm not ready for right now.

"High Raw" is an ebook put out by the wandering duo of Kevin & Annamarie Gianni... do a Google search... it talks about the value of eating mostly raw, and has some insights on the best foods to eat raw/not raw. I met them a couple of years ago, and I have to say, Annamarie has got the absolute best skin I have ever seen in my life.

I've just put seven trays of raw crackers in the dehydrator....

Oh, a couple of other great online resources for raw recipes:

Frugal Raw (eat raw on the cheap!)

Rawfoodtalk.com (I don't know if this is still a live site... but good recipes)

Google the "Raw food starter guide"

google "Pure Jeevan" .. they have (had) a free ebook to help, with recipes, too.
