I'm COLD!

Granted, I live in the mountains and it's winter, but since starting Power 90 and eating cleaner I am constantly cold. I'll layer clothing and turn up the thermostat but I feel like I'm freezing all. day. long. Even when I work out hard, I am still cold. Hot baths and showers temporarily relieve the chill but never for long.
I'm probably eating half the calories and even more than half less fat than I was but I'm finally eating within guidelines. Before, I would just eat more. I have a great sugar free cider mix that I enjoy but even hot drinks don't really touch the deep chill I'm feeling all the time.
Does anyone know if my body will eventually adjust to the lower calorie intake so I can be warm again or must I just wait for spring thaw?

Apparently, coldness is a sign that your metabolic rate is dropping, one of the signs of starvation mode. Try upping your calorie intake by approx. 100 - 200.

I am from Minnesota....
and I know exactly what you're talking about.... pretty sure it is not starvation mode... it's just so cold for the type of food we are eating....
My answer... a spoonful of Peanut Butter, warm socks, and hot Tea...
Enjoy your winter!0 -
I'm always cold too although I can't work out if its due to the lower calories or just because its winter. I keep getting up and doing little exercises or stretches to be temporarily warm.0

Neil, I actually ate a few of my exercise calories yesterday and it did seem to help me warm up for bedtime. There may be something to that.
Stretching is a great idea too! Get the blood moving a bit.
Thanks, Sdaninger- It sounds like you and I are in the same boat- I'm in Utah. Time to break out the fuzzy socks, I guess!0 -
Do you eat much meat/seafood/beans/spinach? Do you take a multivitamin? If the answers are both no, it's possible that you have an iron deficiency, which can lead to anemia. If you haven't been to the doctor since you started your new diet, you may want to go in for blood work. If it turns out you have a deficiency, the solution is just supplements, so it's not too bad. In general, too, I would say that you should not be eating less than 1200 calories a day, regardless of what body temperature you're experiencing ;-) Good luck!0

Ohhhh Good thoughts, ambut
I'm on a good quality multi and I eat spinach about once a week. I do eat meats and beans and some seafood too. I'm not feeling weak, just cold. I'm eating about 1500 cal. a day.
I need to get some bloodwork done in a month or so for an autoimmune disease I have- which could actually be contributing too, I guess. I'll be sure to have all my labs drawn to make sure I'm getting what I need.

Probably the only thing I miss about being overweight was the "built-in insulation" those layers of fat provided. I am ALWAYS cold now, and I live in southern Arizona, where "cold" shouldn't even be a part of my vocabulary.0

weight training can help the cold. when loosing weight we can loose muscle mass as well so adding weight training in your exercise plan should help with the cold feeling. hope this helps!!0
