Hi everyone I was just wondering how much water you all are drinking in one day? I did a quiz based on my activity level weight and a few other questions and it said that I needed 5.1 liters of water. I have noticed on those days when I do hit that mark I am not as hungry as other days when I do not hit that mark. What do you all think? How much water do ya'll consume in one day?
For reference this is the quiz that I took http://nutrition.about.com/library/blwatercalculator.htm.

Also, i think it's quite dangerous to be drinking too much water...your kidneys get overloaded and don't work as fast and swells your brain. I don't think 5.1 litres is healthy...0 -
When you're thirsty, drink. When you're not thirsty, it's okay to drink a little bit more but don't go crazy. The majority of your fluid intake is likely to be via food.
Over hydration can potentially be dangerous.0 -

Here we go again!
You need the equivalent of 8 cups of water a day on average, from any source. These sources can be pure water/tea/coffee/juice/soda/milk/fruit/veg etc. It does NOT have to be pure neat water!

As for coffee being a diuretic, so many people just spout that word as a reason, without actually understanding what "diuretic" means.
di·u·ret·ic (d-rtk)
adj.
Tending to increase the discharge of urine.
n.
A substance or drug that tends to increase the discharge of urine.
Neat water is also a diuretic. The diuretic effect of caffeine is far, far outweighed by the actual water in the tea/coffee. Also, regular consumers of caffeinated beverages will build up a tolerance to said effect, eventually reaching the point where caffeinated drinks provide practically the same amount of hydration as a cup of neat water will.

not more than 128oz a day! (Around six, 20oz water bottle).0

I tend to drink about 4 liters a day. I usually never let myself get thirty because once you feel thirst you are already dehydrated. I've drank anywhere from 1 to 4.5 liters a day.0
