Need help with math - body fat %

I just got my DEXA body scan results back, and I am trying to figure out what my target weight should be based on my target body fat percentage. Here is the info:

My body weight is 81kg (or 178.5 lbs). The scan indicates I have 44.3kg of lean mass (97.7lbs) or 42.5% body fat. (I'm not sure what the discrepancy is because by my math based on my lean mass vs. total mass I should be 45% fat, but maybe there is a 2.5% "other" category that's not factored in?)

To keep things simple, let's assume that I maintain the same 44.3kg of lean mass while losing fat (unlikely I know, but let's do this for simplicity's sake). If I want to have a goal body fat percentage of 23%, what should my target weight be?

Thanks for your help.

  • Okay. The formula is (lean body weight)/(1-0.23). This would give you a total weight of about 127lbs.

Based on your profile pic, is there a chance you BF results are off?
I would think it would be a good bit lower than 40 some percent

Thanks rybo, that pic is from a couple of years ago, where I'm about 30 lbs lighter. I have it up as some inspiration to get back there, and lower.
