Hi all,
just looking for a little advice with the food/excercise thing. anyone with some spare time who would like to analyse my diary and offer suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
i started this on 1/1/12 and my weight and measurements have not changed at all, i've been consisted with my eating and i try to go to the gym at least 3 times a week depending on work/uni.
my tea says chicken i lot however sometimes this is chicken and sometimes its mums recipes she's a diabetic and gluten intolerant so what she makes to go with vegetables is normally extremely healthy very little meat and a lot of veggies.
any questions please feel free to ask them after almost three weeks at this i was hoping to see a little bit of improvement. i'm 81 kg and i'm hoping to get to around 70, so i know there is weight there to loose.
thanks again.

IMO it seem as if you are eating too much starch (rice, bread, potatoes, ect). Your body is probably losing water weight or inches, but the excess starch which too much turns to sugar can cause your body to hold on to it. You should add more fruits and vegetables, and limit your carbs./sugars0

Higher protein and less potatoes? I would just eat the sweet potato and not the regular. Stick to good carbs. More info on the profile would help.0

thanks for the advice so far everyone, i thought i'd initially see some weightloss and then once that stalled i would alter it to cut out the carbs etc,
i had surgery around 18 months ago and they pumped me full of all kinds of drugs (it was long 13 hours on the table and i was kept under for 20 hours) would that impact the weight? i lost 5 kg in 3 days in the process but it all came back and then some which is to be expected since i was eating and not very mobile for the three months after it. all the drugs, anesthetic steriods etc takes a long time to get out of your system apparently. i know that's a dr question i'm just asking for opinions if anyone else has had a similar experiences,
how much more infor are you looking for i'm happy to answer questions0 -
I have a couple thoughts based on my experience when I started out.
First, are you logging everything you eat? Even the things you subconsciously snack on? I find that I can snack on things while hardly realizing it (e.g., a coworker brings in a tub of cookies or something). This mindless snacking can sabotage your weight loss.
Second, are you sure you are accurately measuring your serving sizes? I also found out when I started that I had zero perception of what a real serving size was until I got a food scale and started using it.
Above all else, hang in there and keep trying till you figure out what works! And feel free to add me as a friend!0 -
Switch your whole milk to either 2% or fat free. That will cut out some fat. Not much, but a little. The foods you eat don't look too bad. Also what are you doing at the gym? DO you enjoy it? You may not be getting enough cardio, and or strength training. The reason I ask if you enjoy it, is because if your doing a routine that you don't like, you may not be giving it your all. I LOATHE, I mean LOATHE tread mills & ellipticals. However get me outside hiking, light jogging or my fave climbing hills and I'll do it for hours. Find a workout you truly love, bump it up a notch and you'll see results:) Walking is a great way to burn calories, even better are stairs.0

thanks i've tried 2% milk i find it very watery and i figured if i burnt the calories off i could keep the normal milk but i'll try your suggestion, with everything i'm sure i'll adjust.
i don't mind being at the gym i do mix it up sometimes running, sometimes cross trainer or rowing i also try to do a few weights that surgery really knocked me out so i'm trying to build up a bit of strenght.i'm thinking of buying a heart rate monitor to make sure my excerciser calories are correct.
i guess the biggest question i have is i eat relatively healthy (not perfect) but i don't think i person who eats what i eat should weight 81kg. am i wrong with this thinking? my bmi puts me at borderline obese yet my didn't is full of vegestables proteing and fruit, nothing deep fried and no soft drink or fruit juice just water, green tea and the occasional red wine (maybe once a month).0 -
1) cut out the whole milke (swtich to lower fat percentage)
2) you have alot of starchy foods (potatoes like twice a day), try cutting that down too or subbing in something else.
3) Measure everything. one of the issues I had was that I wasnt getting accurate portions. I had no idea how small a serving of mashed potatoes really was until i actually measured it out last night.....I apparently normally eat about 4 or 5! Invest in a kitchen scale and weigh everything you can
4) not seeing a whole lot of veggies/ fruit that would help a bit prob. You tend to have fruits and veggies every day, but doesnt seem like that much
5) do you really drink 80 oz of water a day? I know i drink about 100, but i have a water bottle that actually measures it each time i drink from it. I find that alof of people way overestimate how much water they eat
not saying you dont do alot of these things already, they are just some of the common things that people mess up on0 -
sorry i starting to see what other information i should have included,
i do use scales to measure everything i picked up a set of digial scales at the boxing day sales and i also have a set of digital scales to weigh my self on.
i really do drink that much water i have a 750ml drink bottle i fill up and use through out the day i go through 750ml at the gym, 500ml with lunch and dinner and maybe a bit more through out the day if i'm find myself to be thirsty. i don't mind the taste of water so i drink it often
I've also never been one to snack with out knowing it i have five meals a day (breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner) and i find this keeps the hunger away.
thanks for all the suggestions so far, really appreciate it0 -
hmmm i cant think of anything else really, except maybe adding sodium to the nutirents you are tracking? otherwise seems like you're going things right0
