I alternate between the Silk Vanilla Light Soy Milk and the Silk True Almond milk. I like the soy milk because it has more protein, but I like the almond milk because it's lower calorie and I can use it in some more savoury recipes.0

Good question! I wanted to know this, too. I know that some are lower in calories. I think Silk Light is around 40 a cup, but I could've totally made that up.0

Silk Light Vanilla is around 70 cals a cup, which isn't bad considering I rarely drink milk0 -
I have been asking myself this too... I think it depends what you want it for. Soy has protein. Almond has very low calories, but no macros. There has also been all the controversy about soy. Phytoestrogens causing problems, unfermented soy being unhealthful in general, the processing creating carcinogenic byproducts, etc.0

I prefer Trader Joe's grain milk. Almond milk makes my teeth sensetive for some reason. :l0

I love Soy Milk.. But I also drink Lactaid based on the fact I'm slightly lactose-intolerant. Haha0

I just got a carton of Almond milk to try. I normally drink Skim Milk, I want to try Soy too, ya'll are talking nutrition but I'm wondering, which one tastes best?0

I think it's just all about taste. I enjoy silk Light Vanilla. I'm also whey/casein intolerant. I can't break down the milk proteins. But I can eat yogurt.... weird..... anyway, there is more protein in the Silk than in Almond milk, but about the same in skim milk. Look at the carbs though. I think there are more in the Silk than skim milk.
Drink/eat what you like out of these three. They are all healthy choices!0 -
i use almond milk, sweetened (I'll take the extra 20 calories for it to not taste like bum)0

Skim milk I find is very watery, Almond milk is more savory and a little stronger, Soy milk (if you get the Vanilla kind) is very sweet but suuuper delicious0 -

almond milk by far tastes better...doesn't leave a gross after taste in your mouth like soy milk does0 -

Haha i'm opposite! I suppose it is just personal preference :P0 -
I love soy milk especially the dark chocolate stuff including almond milk.0

I prefer almond, but it's more for taste than anything else. I was drinking the Silk Original Almond, but I've switched over the unsweetened almond milk by Almond Breeze. Silk has a similar version for 35 cals per cup (versus 40 for Almond Breeze), but I can get cartons of it at Costco for much, much cheaper (about 2 bucks a carton versus nearly 4 at the grocery store). Extra bonus is that I don't have to refrigerate the unopened cartons.
I do still drink soy sometimes, usually the chocolate soy or in a soy latte.0 -

That's my favorite! Though, I just learned how to make almond milk from scratch using medjool dates to sweeten it so I'm gonna try that soon!0 -
unless you are alergic to diary, why have almond milk ? I would rather have water and raw almonds instead. Anyways, that is my preference though. Soy milk is pretty good considering the fact that it has lots of protein. When I make my protein smoothie, I add soft soy (in solid form) and water (kind of making my own soy milk). This gives me more protein and a smoothier texture. You could use FF cottage cheese too instead.0

That sounds like a great idea, thanks!0 -
I've been drinking/cooking with soy milk (prefer Westsoy organic plain) for over 15 years now and am raising both my daughters on it. Outside of lack of thicking properties like milk, wouldn't go back to milk for anything. If you aren't consuming a ton, the calories are in the noise of your daily intake. As far as the phytoestrogen scare, my oldest daughter was the last in her class to start her cycle and I'm convinced it is because she wasn't getting all the hormones & such in cow's milk. Plus, dentist always raves about how strong their teeth are. I think the almond/soy decision is based on your taste preferences but I'd stay away from the dairy - it's for turning a 400lb baby cow into a 1000lb cow and I'm not looking to gain that kind of weight0

Almond Milk is my fav. This might be because I'm lactose intolerant in additition to being soy sensitive. But I think Almond milk tastes the best.0

I'm vegan, so I choose between the soy and the almond. I think that all three are healthy choices, though! :-)
My opinion: Go with which tastes the best to you, because they are all good choices.
My current favorite is unsweetened vanilla almond milk, YUM!0 -

I didn't know they had unsweetened vanilla! I've been looking for something a little less sweet for my savory dishes that call for milk. I'll try that, and thanks!0 -

You can get the unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze at Costco. It comes in a pack with six cartons and ends up being a bit cheaper than at Albertsons/Vons/etc. 40 calories per cup.0

Less sugar.0 -
I started out last year with soy milk just because I've never "loved" cows milk. Soy was okay....but it was only for smoothies, I didn't like it just to drink it plain, but it did the trick for what I was using it for.
Once I lost lots of my weight I found the calories in any milk, soy or other wise not "worth" it until I found 35-40 cal unsweetened almond milk. This stuff tasted great, I can drink it as is, or on cereal it's delicious, I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT in smoothies, protein shakes, or as make it yourself icecream, chocolate is only 40 cal per 8oz cup and vanilla is 35. You can get plain for cooking.
My kids even love it.....so I will never go back to cows milk or soy. I'm not exactly how it compares in protein, carbs, sodium, fat to other milks but for me it works.0 -

I have never been a milk lover ....skim is just too watery. Have switched over to Almond Breeze unsweetened original mainly because it is only 2 carbs per cup and is sugar free. Use it mainly when I have my cereal.0
-
I prefer the TASTE of almond milk (unsweetened in my cereal or to drink, Vanilla for my oatmeal), but I'll use plain unsweetened soy in my smoothies to get more protein. I also use the unsweetened soy in savory recipes.0
