Anyone using ZUMBA to workout while using my fitness pal? I LOVE IT AND THINK IT IS A GREAT ADDITION TO MY FITNESS PAL.

I do zumba sometimes. I vary my workout tapes, but I do love to zumba.
  • Yes! I take 1 - 2 one hour classes per week and I love it! I am also a runner but with the cold weather that hasn't been as easy. So I look around for other ways to burn calories.
  • Zumba is amazing. I try to do a one hour zumba class 2-3 times a week. Along with cutting back my diet to take in less calories and doing the 30 day shred on some days that I do not go to zumba...I have lost 8 lbs in 2 weeks. I love zumba because there is a lot of shaking it and dance moves. It is an easy way to have fun and get a good work out in.

Yes! That is my only cardio that I do besides walking. I am doing the dvd's and will try my first live class this Sunday!
  • I LOVE Zumba! Its very addicting and in my opinion one of the best(and fun) ways to workout.

It took me a while to like Zumba, but once I found an instructor I liked it was a ton of fun. There are times I still feel like an idiot doing it, but oh well I am burning those calories while getting my groove on :)

Just started Zumba, I have been doing 1-1hour class a week and using walking away the pounds dvds and just walking in general the other days of the week. I have found success in alternating workouts. This way I do not get bored at 1 thing. But I agree with everyone else I LOVE ZUMBA. It is much more fun in a class then at home by yourself!!!
  • I love ZUMBA! tI tried it for the first time over break with my sister, and the teacher was AMAZING. The sad part is that my sister lives in Florida and I in Iowa. I checked out the local Zumba here in Iowa and the teacher is not very good. I am going to keep going to all the other teachers until I find someone that I like though.

Help me out.. I had no idea what a Zumba was so I youtube'd it. How does it differ from the 8 million types of cardio classes that preceded it?

For me the different is it is FUN! Therefore I continue to go. I burn around 600-650 per class.

I feel that it is more fun that the typical cardio class because you are just dancing and the music is so upliftin!. Also you have to catch on to the choregraphy as they do not cue you on what to do so it is a challenge at first but the repetition helps.
  • I love it! I can't dance to save my life, and am all over the place usually, but it's so much fun. :)

zumba is a high intensity dance fitness program that incorporates many different styles: latin--samba, salsa, merenge, mambo, cumbia, also reggaeton, hip-hop, and even some country. The variety makes it a little different, and it is both dancing and fitness moves like squats, lunges, knee lifts, etc. But for me it is closer to real dancing, and I love my instructors. The instructor you have makes a huge difference!

If you want an estimate of the calories burned, there is a website: zumbacalories.com. It uses your weight and intensity level.
