Question about measuring

I really don't cook that much and I'm trying to get better about it, even though it's difficult to not just eat something frozen that has all the info on the package. Anyway when you are measuring things, specifically meat, to you go by the weight before you cook it or after? Just curious and want to make sure I am logging things correctly.

What they have on the packaging is for what is in the product before you cook it. They don't assume you get rid of the grease, cut the fat, or trim the skins of anything.0
