There's a chinese restaurant that my hubby and I have been going to for years, at least once a week. On the days that I'm trying to do good, I order chicken and broccoli, beef and broccoli, or kung pao chicken which has chicken, celery, carrots, water chestnuts and peanuts. I suppose the calorie count could be a bit higher than I imagine what with all the sauce on it, but of everything else on the menu, at least it isn't breaded and deep fried. Sometimes I'll just order those alone, the meat and veggies, or sometimes if I want more substance I'll get it with brown rice. If possible, maybe you can ask if you can get your entree without so much sauce? Depending on how they prepare it, it might be possible. Never hurts to ask. =)

    Good luck!

Egg drop soup is typicaly just egg, chicken broth and corn starch, sweet and sour chicken is usually pineapple and lemon, cornstarch and maybe soy sauce. Beef and brocc would be soy sauce, brown sugar and cornstarch....its hard to know what they really cook with...this is all stuff we make at home. lettus wraps might be a good option if they have them....other that that stay aways fromt he fried stuff....and just remember that most of the sauces have soy sauce, brown sugar and cornstarch in them.
  • I have an awesome eating out advisor that tells me everything for restaurants. You can have steamed chicken & Broccoli or mixed veg. Steamed shrimp with broccoli or mixed veg. Steamed brown rice, salad. Be sure to request sauces on the side.

For instance : orange peel chicken with rice or garlic chicken with chow mein a cup of egg flower soup. Mushroom chicken with mixed veg. Mandarin chicken light sauce with steamed brown rice.

Be sure to order steamed rice instead of fried. Choose brown garlic or fish sauce over creamy white sauces.

    HTH:)

Thanks for all the advice everyone.

I had veg chow main tonight which was 814 cals I tried to stay away from fried and battered, also I went for a veg option rather than meat. Used the local take away and asked it with out sauce they were happy to do that so prob not as high as 814 cals.

The meal out is next weekend so I will try plan what I will have before I go.
