So I just started doing C25k and I was wondering if anyone has done this program before?? I am not a runner at all I suck a lot lol but I just started doing this and I'm on the 2nd week now. I feel like I'm never going to get to really running and I just wanted to know if anyone else who wasn't a runner and decided to do this and it worked for them.

I did it, but only got to week 7because I twisted an ankle playing softball and it got me out my groove. But anyway, keep doing it....you'll make progress even though it may not feel like it. Trust me when I tell you a lot of it is mental.....you can do it!!!

Me! I was a non runner and literally went couch to 5k. I hit a road block at 5 weeks and got a bum knee due to wearing sneaks that did not fit properly. After a few weeks I heeled and got a proper sneaker fitting I was back in the races. :) I have raced two 5Ks and running now is a part of my life.

I've just started it (I've only done week 1 so far) and I already feel like I'm getting a bit better. I still hate running though - I just want to do it for the feeling of achievement.

I never ran a day in my life, LOL! 2 years ago I found C25K today I can run 4-5 miles no problem. So yes it does work and it is work! It's not easy but if you stick to it you will be able to run at the end of the program! Good luck!!

Graduated a couple weeks ago. Literally couch rider to I'm planning my first 5K now. Trust the program and repeat a day or week if you need to. It helped me build great endurance and I'm working on speed now. Don't concentrate on how far and fast you can make yourself go, just focus on form and breathing and letting your body adjust to the increasing level of activity. If I can do it, believe me, so can you!

I just finished my second week of it. So far so good. Actually I've kind of impressed myself with the progress I've made! I live in upstate NY so the weather here sucks now, but I am planning to run my first 5K in May. I should have plenty of time to get this running thing down! lol Good luck with your running!

I have 2 days left until I graduate the program :) When i first started I struggled at 1 min runs and got to the point of verbally abusing the iphone app voice when it told me to run. lol

Slowly it gets easier and at about week 4 I changed from doing JUST the program, to completing the intervals and then continuing at my own pace to make the time of the workout a full hour.....Im doing that 4-5 days a week now and look forward to my runs ( which is weird for me as I hated running before).

Every few weeks I get a big burst of energy and continue after the hours up...see what distance I can go without killing myself. Got my personal best distance this morning of 15.5km / 9.6 miles over 2 hours!! Loving it and highly recommend C25K to anyone!

Add me if you'd like- love having friends to share encouragement and support..... and talk to :)

I did. I absolutely hated running before -- mostly because I had no idea how to pace myself, and running in shoes (even well-fitted running shoes) is apparently not for me. I would burn out quickly, and was prone to injuries - shin splints and twisted ankles mostly. It was miserable. I *wanted* to be a runner, but every time I tried it was like torture.

This summer, I did C25K barefoot, and it changed my whole view of running. I twisted my ankle running a 5K trail race about 3 weeks into the program (wearing shoes), so that extended how long it took me to finish the program, but I worked the program around where I was at and made it through. It's more about progress than finishing in X number of weeks.

I love running now, and am working on my time... still slow by many standards (short little legs! LOL) but I'm really proud of the progress I've made in the last half year. That feeling of accomplishment after a run is the best high!! Now that my legs and shins are stronger, and a proper footstrike has become habit, I can run some in shoes without hurting myself, but I was ecstatic to get some Vibram 5 Fingers for running on the treadmill during the winter. (If we had our own treadmill, I would skip the Vibrams.) I am a very enthusiastic convert to barefoot running, and I wonder why it took me so long to give it a try.

Keep at it, and trust the program but also feel free to make changes where necessary (for instance, skipping a week or repeating a week).

Oh, and I seem to recall really hating week 2. It dragged on forever, IIRC. Week 3 is tons better!!

I was definitely a non-runner, but I knew I needed to step up my cardio to lose weight . From the boards here is where I heard about C25K. I successfully completed the program, and ran my first 5K a week after finishing (Dec 3rd). I finished in less than 35 minutes. I also ran my 2nd 5K last Saturday and did even better. I'm now eyeing a 3rd race in Feb (5 miles)!

The program does work. Just take it slow... repeat weeks, if needed... and go at your own pace... don't worry about how fast or slow you are going.

Also... I would definitely make sure you go to a running store and get fitted for a good pair of shoes... I think it makes a world of difference!

    Good luck!
