Having a hard time with Protein

I can't seem to stay under my protein. I'm going over double most days. It's usually my tuna, chicken, or fish that are the culprits. And rice too.
How would I go about getting this lower? I'm meeting my calorie goals, and everything else but the protein has me stumped.
Is going over my protein a really bad thing?
I'm fairly new to this all, please help!

The MFP recommendations for protein are ridiculously low. Don't worry about exceeding them.0

I agree with Ron. I always go over and I don't eat meat.0

Well that's a huge relief!! I was starting to get panicky because I didn't know how on earth I was going to get my protein down. Seems everything lean and healthy has a high protein count.
I'm relieved to hear it won't kill my success at weight loss. Thanks!!0 -
MFP protein is set a little low IMO as well. I try to eat 80g-100g a day (depending on how much active I was)0

I'd agree that MFP is drastically low on the protein estimations. An adult should be getting anywhere from 0.8g to 2.0g per kg. For a sedentary person it would be 0.8g, and for someone attempting to bulk muscle it should be closer to 2.0g. I usually try (try being the operative word) to aim for 1.2-1.6g per kg. This ends up being over 100g. You should keep in mind that whether you are trying to gain muscle or lose fat, increased protein intake is beneficial.0

Is there anyway to adjust the macronutrients to what you are trying to achieve with mfp? I try to keep a 50/30/20 ratio P/C/F. I usually just ignore when it says I am over or under and focus on the grams and ratio but didn't know if you could customize it.0

^^, although I might add an obvious notation to the above statement.
"As long as you stay under your goal calories."0 -
