I make burgers from lean mince and just form them into a burger shape, then fry with 1cal spray. I put them in a folded tortilla wrap with 2 slices of low fat burger cheese, and it comes to 484cal per portion with sauces (extra light mayo, squeezy mustard and ketchup). Depends on size of burgers obviously, but I use 2 burgers weighing around 100g each per person.
They're so filling and I feel like it's a big treat because they are delicious! I have them with sweet potato wedges which keeps the calories down on sides :)

hmmm... if you are into turkey, use that, mix with zucchini and spinach (veggies ftw! and it should keep the turkey moist) and Gouda cheese. This is healthy in the sense that it has lots of nutrients, not that it is low low calorie.

    Smothered Swiss Burger

    1/4 pound ground sirloin
    1 slice Swiss cheese
    1 cup sliced mushroom
    2 slices of sweet onion
    1 tsp butter
    Pam spray
    slice of tomatoe
    light wheat hamburger bun

    Directions:
Make 1/4 inch thick patty from sirloin. Salt and pepper patty to taste. Cook in non-stick skillet over medium high heat. When patty is almost done add cheese and cook just long enough to melt cheese. Do not overcook. Remove patty to plate. Place Bun in skillet and lightly brown. Place patty upon bottom of bun. Reserve top.

Mean while, In a non-stick skillet spray with pam and add tsp of butter, on low heat melt butter. As soon as butter is melted add onions and mushrooms. Cover and saute over medium heat until onions are soft and mushrooms lightly browned.

Pour mushroom & onion mixture over patty and place bun half on top. I like a tblsp of ketchup on the bottom bun. Enjoy!

One of the "healthier" burger recipes I know is actually also my favorite. I am a die hard meat eater and I have made this recipe for others and the reviews are always fantastic. It uses buffalo meat mixed with minced portobello mushrooms, making the burger super moist.

I don't think lean ground beef has too many cals. Just make sure to avoid cheese, using a sandwich thin or 45 calorie bread as your bun, lay off the bacon, egg, onion rings, ranch dressing and the like on top you'll be fine. I eat a burger now and then. :)
