Hi,

I drink over a gallon of water a day and my friends keep telling me that it is too much. Is it really possible to retain the daily water that I drink?

    Hello!

One gallon per day is 128 ounces, or about 4 liters. I wouldn't worry about that being too much, and water retention is based on sodium intake (not water intake--in fact drinking water prevents you from retaining it), but if you're worried here's a link to a calculator that will tell you how much you need based on weight/activity/climate...

Yeah, it is possible to drink too much water. I wouldn't worry about water retention. I'd worry more about Water Intoxication. 1 gallon is fine, but if you approach 2 gallons, you're in the danger zone.

As long as you are not drinking a gallon in one sitting and it is spread throughout the day, it will not harm you in any way. There is such a thing as too much water if you are drinking it all at one time but you are fine.
