Best website! Let us know what recipes you find and love! I'm sure there will be plenty :D
  • Fat Free Vegan, Happy Herbivore, VegWeb. And if you're looking to incorporate some raw, Thrive (Brenden Brazier) and The Fruit Pursuit are awesome =]

Vegetarian Times website! I'm addicted to it. Not always vegan friendly, but substitutions are usually possible and there is a place where you can comment on the recipes and see what other people recommend. And Allrecipes.com is becoming a surprisingly good source as well. Local library and check out books! Vegan planet is a cook book I have that I like. 101cookbooks.com is vegetarian but she has a vegan section. theeleganteggplant.com is another good place. Not vegetarian, but she focuses on whole, in-season foods and has a pretty good vegetarian section that is mostly vegan. If you come up with anything else, PLEASE SHARE!!!! I'm veg, but love to cook vegan stuff!

Oh, if you want raw I would also recommend the books "Raw Energy: 124 raw food recipes for energy bars, smoothies and other snacks" and "Raw Food, Real World" which is mostly fancy stuff, but their "graw-nola" is AMAZING!!

The Post Punk Kitchen also has great recipes: http://www.theppk.com/

VegNews also has a recipe feature - no real landing page that I can find (it may be right in front of me!), but you can search for recipes. www.vegnews.com

    All awesome suggestions!

I also like ohsheglows.com, but could stand to do without some of the holistic preach-y-ness of most of the vegan/organic/gluten-free blogs and websites. But honestly - her website is full of amazing vegan ideas. From cheeze-y oats, to chilis and soups, to oat bars (I just sent her oat square recipe to my partner this morning!), vegan desserts, pastas, salads, whatever you can dream up! They are often really "complex" sounding or seeming, but break them down to whatever you have on hand, use her seasoning suggestions, and make it your own!

(One of) My fave vegan recipe is from ppk - Tofu Scramble! http://www.theppk.com/2009/10/tof-u-and-tof-me-scrambled-tofu-revisited/

This one I'm trying tomorrow for the first time: edibleperspective.com/2011/02/stuffed-with-coconut/

    HOW could that be bad?

I also really enjoyed these vegan almond chickpea cookies: www.familyfreshcooking.com/2011/05/01/vegan-almond-chickpea-cookies-gluten-free-recipe/

And no - I don't only eat desserts :blushing: Good luck!

I make a vegan pate. Sunflower seeds, a whole bunch of veggies, sage, and a tiny bit of flour to bind. Bake and use as spread for crackers or slice and use as sandwich "meat" :)

I made these lentil tacos tonight for supper (subbing vegan sour cream for the dairy sour cream - but I've also made it leaving out sour cream altogether) and they are delicious. I use a flour tortilla instead of a fried shell. http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Spiced-Lentil-Tacos-351390

Has anyone mentioned Mama Pea's blog? Yummy stuff there. http://peasandthankyou.com/

I have a vegan food blog (albeit a small one) at http://vegancajun.blogspot.com.

Also Peasandthankyou is great, try Happy Herbivore's Apple Crisp Muffins, and her cheese sauce. SO GREAT! I use HH a lot for my basic cooking, she just came out with a new cookbook, Everyday Happy Herbivore which has great recipes in it, and her first has a lot of typical 'comfort' foods.

Here are a few of my favorites:
    1. Soft tacos:
beans (any kind will do, if I have fresh made ones I use them I cook them with onion, garlic, bay leaves and cumin). steamed or roasted winter squash (butternut is awesome here), cooked chopped greens (I usually steam and add salt and chili flakes and garlic powder to spinach or chard). Use corn tortilla, toasted with a bit of walnut or canola oil in a pan. Top with your favorite salsa, avocado and just and extra sprinkle of course salt to bring all the flavors together. **if you aere veggie add a bit of salty cheese maybe goat, feta, queso fresco or even parm

    2. Curried red lentils: I like to cook red lentils with curry powder, cayenne or fresh chilis, onions, diced tomatoes, ginger, garlic, and about 1/2 cup of coconut milk (use broth or water). When the lentils are halfway done, add chopped sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes will counter act the spiciness and the coconut milk adds some richness. This soup/stew is amazing. Eat it plain or serve with naan.

    3. Avocado chocolate mousse. Google this, there are loads of variations. My favorite one I made had avo, chocolate powder, coconut milk subbed for soy or almond milk, vanilla and agave syrup. It was amazing. Kinda like eating a mounds bar, but the coconut taste was subtle

    4. I make my own veggie broth. I just save carrot peels, and other veggie scraps and throw it in the freezer. When I have a full bag -- about 3-4 cups, I cut an onion in quarters, add celery if I have some left over and boil it for about 30 minutes with a bay leaf. Lemongrass and saffron are also nice additions (remove the bay leaf). You don't want to add too many kale or chard stems, they add bitterness. Too many fennel tops is a little sweet but in reality you can't mess it up. And it is environmentally friendly. And way easier than making meat broths.

ohsheglows and theppk are my 2 faves!!! Cocolate Covered Katie is good for sinful but healthy desserts.

Ob-sessed with the tofu scramble from theeppk.com :)
  • go to www.aliensdayout.com. this is a girl i know who writes this blog out of korea. she also has an online vegan bake shop, but only in seoul :( lots of simple ideas, great pictures, and im pretty sure there is an entire recipe section (but sometimes they are included in the post). enjoy!
  • Others have mentioned vegweb.com, but I also highly recommend the cookbook "Appetite for Reduction" by Isa Chandra Moskowitz (also of post punk kitchen fame). While her other vegan cookbooks are fantastic, they are also a bit more caloric and complicated (though great for special occasions). Appetite for Reduction is filled with low calorie and filling recipes that are easy to make. I've made and enjoyed many recipes so far, and you can even try most of them by viewing the book on Amazon before buying it.
