Where to get running shoes?

So- I had this written on my wall (and just excited, so I am posting it here, too!) (I am a former runner turned fatty)
Um, I just ran an 11 minute mile...7 minutes and then 4 minutes with a 30 minute break...Kinda feeling like super woman. I think I might be keeping the incline low for a while! Like, I went .65 miles without stopping. At all.
Anyway- my ankle started hurting, and I am thinking it is time for some actual running shoes. Nice ones (that won't break the bank- Like, i can't possibly spend more than $100, preferably less)...but I don't know where to go to get them. Any ideas?

I got my running shoes at ****'s Sporting goods- they're Asics and were on sale for $50-ish. If you want shoes and input from knowledgable people, I would find a good ol' mom-and-pop running shop near you- there's one near me and, once I lose enough to start training for 5k and eventually half and full marathons, I'll definitely be stopping there to get properly fitted fancy shoes. hope that helps. good luck!0

I bought mine at Finish Line.
Yes, they are a bit more pricey ... however ... they have a thing where you can buy a pair of shoes, and use them for 14 days - and if you don't like them, return them! I ran with mine outside, in the dirt, everywhere. I had to go through 3 pairs before I found a pair that was good for me.
Being able to actually use them and see if you like them was a huge selling point for me (to buy them there!). I ended up with a pair of Brooks G12 Adrenaline series and paid a little over $100 after tax.
Money well spent, in my opinion!0 -
I got my Brooks at Gary Gribbles Running store and they were super knowledgeable and helped me find what I needed. I had never tried Brooks before but it was one that was perfect for me. And they were only $100.0

I get mine at Kohl's or Big 5 Sporting Goods, usually. I like Nike or New Balance. I might suggest you go to one of those specialty running stores and have them do the treadmill test to recommend shoes, but then buy the shoes they recommend at whichever store is cheapest.0

I will have to see if I can find a place near me! I don't know of one, but I am sure I can find out0

Fleet Feet if you have one near you. They will give you the treadmill test, video record, and watch you run outside in them. Then, let you keep them for 2 weeks to make sure they are the right ones for you. They have all types of shoes, so the prices range. The pair of Asics I purchased were $100.00 but when I got home I checked online and they were on sale on Amazon for $79.00. But, it was worth paying the price for the 30 minute consultation.0
