An Epiphany!

I play bingo a couple of times a week. All of the halls have snack bars and it's hard to not give in to temptation. And I would always say "just this one time and then I'll get back on track". And I do that with every temptation that comes across my path.

Last night it was someone's birthday and a piece of cake was put in front of me. I looked at that cake and looked at it and ... well you get the picture. I thought "well maybe this time". And then a light bulb lit up! I'm always going to be faced with these temptations. They are everywhere. I've heard of people throwing away food that their family would have enjoyed, like a whole chocolate cake, because they couldn't deal with the temptation. But then what are they going to do when they're faced with another temptation? So I gave the cake away and ate a cereal bar instead. And I'm going to remember what went through my head last night next time I'm faced with temptation.

That was really an NSV for me. :)

i threw away a very expensive ice cream cake this morning (a leftover dessert from a dinner out on the weekend with friends) as it was just the most amazing taste ever - there is no way i have enough willpower to have that in my house!
