Can anyone tell me why, if the MFP calculator puts my BMR at 1394, why does it then show my Calories From Normal Daily Activity as 1740 to work out my recommended calories? I thought thats what your BMR was?

BMR is like if you lie in bed all day... normal daily activity is, well, normally walking around and doing things.0

BMR= amount of calories your body would need to survive if comatose
TDEE= Total daily energy expenditure; your BMR plus calories burned from normal daily activities.0 -

BMR is your baseline as melissa said. Then you have to figure out your total daily energy expended (TDEE) which is the amount of calories you burn throughout the day including lifestyle and exercise. And then you can form a deficit.0 -
Ah now that makes sense, thanks.0
