I started this weight loss journey a few years ago. I started out at 172 and I am 5ft 6 in tall. Anyway when I found this site I was at 152 and had hit a plateau. I have only lost a lb so far, well 2 last week and now only 1. I feel that I am doing everything humanly possible and cannot figure out why this weight isn't budging. I looked back 10 days at my calories and I am between 1000-1900 a day there. I work out 5 days a week and not just little work outs, I do a really intense class called cardio pump that incorporates weight lifting with cardio twice a week, yoga twice a week, zumba once a week and I go to the gym for cardio on my own 2-3 times a week. I am also very active physically with my dog and hubby. We go hiking once a week as well. So what could be making me sit at this weight? When I log out each night I usually have 100's of extra calories that I did not use due to exercise so why haven't I lost? Just feeling like I can't possibly do 1 more thing right and still not seeing results!

  • I can't see your diary, so I don't really know how to answer. It could be what you are eating. Are you drinking wine? I can't loose weight at all if I drink. The pounds are melting off of me by eating mainly vegetables, meat, and healthy oils.

Also, it could be that you aren't eating enough since you said you still have 100's of calories left over. You said that you are doing alot of exercise so that means you need to be eating more. You could also try cutting back on some of the exercise and not over doing it. I was exercising almost 2 hrs a day at one point and I realized that it wasn't something I could sustain. So now I go to Curves 5-6 times a week for 30 min and I walk every night.
  • I think it sounds like you are not eating enough... I would increase your calorie intake and make sure that you are using all the calories you have "available". If the weight doesn't start to come off increase them and add a couple healthy snacks in there. Most likely, your body won't let go of weight because its in "starvation mode".

I agree with Tammy. You have to make sure you are eating all the calories needed. If anything, I would mostly just try to make sure you meet at least 1200 calories per day (after exercise). I think that is the threshold for "starvation" then again everyone could be different.
