the downside to loosing weight/inches

Im there with you!! Take off the inches and put on the belt. I laughed when I read that you are always pulling up your pants~me too. Just not quite enough off yet to buy new ones.0

My solution to this (I have lost just short of 90lbs since April last year) has been dresses! You can cling on to dresses for a few sizes longer than pants and shirts and they help you avoid having to buy new clothes every now and then. I've gone from a UK size 20 to a UK size 8/10 and I just couldn't have afforded to buy new pants for every new clothes size (I'm on an income of £8000 a year) so the dresses have been a life saver!
I donated all of my non-fitting clothes to charity and I buy anything new that I desperately need from charity shops or from sales in already discounted clothes shops such as George or Peacocks.
Another solution, though this didn't work for me because of my already low income, was to put away a pound for a pound. For every pound I lost, I would put £1 into a savings account with the intention of spending it on clothes when it got to the point where I really needed them! You could maybe even get a friend or family member to sponsor you a small amount for each lb or 10 lbs or whatever that you lose!0 -
good for you better that than them too tight0

I don't have this problem yet (I just seriously started 3 weeks ago), but I'm one of the few people who kept all their old clothes and didn't buy many trendy things, so I have sizes ranging from 0 to 18. I spent this weekend sorting my clothes into Space Bags based on size so that I can just easily grab that size when I'm ready. Some of it was already done, but most of it was just hanging haphazardly in my closet laughing at me that I would never fit into it again!
Keep losing and good job0 -
bought a fancy red satin pencil skirt for a hawt date...wore it once. now it's too big. This keeps happening to me!!!!!!!
oh and I'm cold ALL the time!!!0 -
Buy a belt and bask in the fact that you are too thin for your own clothes!
^
this. I got a belt that has holes all the way of the belt. end to end. but then my friends and family complain I look like a clown with oversized poofy jeans. I can't win. :sad:0 -
And... Your shoes will stop fitting and you will have to buy new shoes, especially slip-ons.
And, where I work I wear a custom earpiece, which keeps falling out now because my ears are less fat.0 -
then walk around naked, you deserve it in a good way0

YAY!!!
need to get together and start a garage sale!0 -
I have a lovely faux-fur coat that my mother bought me for Christmas 2010, but last Christmas it was much too big. It was quite expensive and I couldn't bear to give it away so I had it taken in a (good) few inches. Now it fits even better than it did last year! I gave the rest of my larger clothes to charity, but I wasn't giving away the coat0

What a great problem to have!
Just a thought.... are there any consignment shops in your area? I've had a few people suggest that to me.
Congrats!0 -
Yep... sucks.. but its a burden I'm willing to carry... beats the extra weight!...
Same thing with me - the pile of clothes I no longer fit into keeps growing and growing - its a shame I can't keep up by way of an incoming wardrobe! lol
Congrats!0 -
good call! I lost 55 lbs a few years ago, and thought I should keep all of my old clothes just in case, but others talked me out of it saying that it would give me incentive to keep the weight off. Well I've gained it all back since then, and I'm really wishing I had them!0

I can relate. I am down from 18-20 pants to 12-14. I have nothing to wear and wearing the same pants 3 times a week. It's a great thing but also expensive. Congrats on your loss.0
-
That is tragic! I want that tragedy!!!0

I have a really nice thrift store that I go to. I can buy jeans and shirts for 1$ each! When I finally reach my goal I am going on a big shopping spree though! I started out a size 18/20 and just now got into size 12.0

When I ballooned up to 286 lbs. I kept all of my old clothes, so up to now I haven't had to do much shopping. I guess it's a good thing that men's fasions are so timeless. Since I started with MFP I have given away over half of my wardrobe, and am getting to the point where I will probably be able to fit into my old leisure suits very soon...
I can see a shopping trip in the very near future...and that's a good thing! :happy:0 -
upside - too sexy for your wardrobe :laugh:0

Congrats to you all- I can't wait to have the same "problem"! :laugh:0

YES!
This is what I tell myself every time one of my favorite things has to be retired.0 -
Great Job! I too just had to find a new style and size of Levis! It can get expensive, but saggy jean butt syndrome got old real fast! My new jeans look so fly! And they fit so well!0
-
its an awesome problem to have though! that means you are doing a great job!0

I've started buying cheap fitted dresses (old navy is usually pretty good, or walmart). When they start to get too big, I can belt them to make them appear fitted. They look great with a cardigan or sweater over leggings, and are super easy to layer and dress up or down.
I've started only replacing the staples in my closet (black pants, solid shirts), from what I can find on the sale rack. Or, digging into my "box of shame" that has all the clothing I've grown out of in the last 5 years :laugh:0 -
Lol yeap it's true...but the close that fit smaller people are usually nicer...the fashion industry isn't kind lol...I went from a 44 pant size to a 36 and a xxxl shirt to xl nice and tight lol I had to replace everything but spending money never felt so good lol0
-
I feel you. I bought a few pairs of size 36 pants a few weeks ago after being a size 40 previously....and now those are getting too big for me!0
