women lifting weights

I'm close to goal and am deciding to take up weight lifting.
I'm also looking for other ladies who are currently weight lifting, or have had success weight lifting. I need a little guidance. I've done lifting before (free weights) but I don't have any real formal education on it and most of what's on the web is aimed at men. I'm not even sure what I should have as a goal for my squat weights.
My goal is to see my abs for once in my life. Hopefully drop the last ten pounds.
I also wanted to share this website that I think is pretty cool about women and weights:

When it comes to lifting weights, gender doesn't matter. As long as you learn the correct form and start light, you should be ok. Do a bunch of research on the web and on this forum. There's a lot of smart people to help guide you to a beginner program. I like stronglifts 5x5 or starting strength by Mark Rippetoe. I started with 5x5 because all the info was free. I have since checked out starting strength, 5/3/1 and New Rules of Lifting. Again, there is a lot out there.0

thanks. I never joined any "group" and never learned how it worked! I also don't get the "lingo" of weight lifting. I downloaded the 5x5 app and I'm all like "what are they talking about?!?!?!"
no idea.
Hopefully that group will help!0 -
I've also recently decided to pick up weight lifting and the site bodybuilding.com is a huge help, check it out.0

Start lifting, yesterday if possible. You can start light but don't stay there, challenge yourself everyday!0
