I read that as 101 pounds at first! And thought... "whew... and I was gonna say FIVE!" Ha! You can do this!!!! Don't give up! What is that Lance Armstrong quote? Pain (or counting calories!) is temporary... quitting is forever!0

25 lbs. and gained it all back and then some. That is why I joined MFP! I got engaged in June 2011. I want to be a pretty bride and a new healthier me!0

Lost 20 pounds with giving up soda and fast food and joining a jazzercise class. Moved away and it all fell apart. Thankfully, I didn't gain it back but still. I should've NEVER stopped. >:(0

I lost 41lbs once, but I didn't give up, I had just reached my goal. (Shame I was a piggy and ate too many cakes a few months later, hence why I am dieting again lol).
Out of interest, why did you give up after 10lbs? That seems such a shame to give up when you had worked so hard to lose it that far :frown:0 -
I usually diet before going on holiday then when i get there i just eat what i want!! By the time i come home iv been eating crap all week and cant be bothered with the hellish 'first week' again. Not this time tho!! 6lbs down so 5more and i'll have beaten my record lol0

Lost around 48lbs 7 years ago & I was content. In the last couple of years I have gained that back and then some. This time I am going for that and more....Giving up is not an option!0

I know what you mean about when you "break" the diet and eat stuff you were not eating whilst slimming, done that myself too. Bloody hard work "getting back into it" sometimes, takes all my willpower! :frown:0 -
I lost 60 lbs a few years ago. I didn't mean to give up, but somewhere along the way I lost my footing and fell apart. In the last two years I've gained back more than half of what I lost. But I'm determined to get that off and a little more, then actually MAINTAIN my healthy choices/lifestyle/weight.
Just keep your chin up! You can do it! We all can! We've got lots of chances in life, but you never know when it'll be your last chance. So make it work this time!0 -
70lbs... I was just tired of the routine so I took a short break and got back into it. Being mentally prepared was the hardest thing, still is sometimes.0

I think, when I reach my goal, I will continue to log for maintenance. Keep my eye on my greedy little habits for a start lol.0 -
Lost about 25lbs between my senior year in HS and starting college, but it was a stick diet and pills (I know!) and gained it all back, plus about 50lbs in the next 7 years. This is not a diet for me now, it's a lifestyle change and I will be using MFP for years to come to keep weight off.0

I have been on this journey on and off for a while now. With the help of MFP, I have had my best year yet.
I think the most important thing to keep in mind is that you probably aren't going to hit your goal tomorrow. Some days you are looking at your goals 6 months to a year out. Other days, it is just about getting to the gym, or not having those chips.
This is work, but it is worth the reward. Just keep thinking back to how much better you feel now that you did before. Just my two cents.0 -
Lost 80, got divorced, gained 20 and now I'm struggling to get moving down again. Luckily I haven't gained more back but I've been stalled.0

I lost 2st in 2003 doing WW. It took me 5 months to lose 1.5st and another year to lose the other 1/2st. I wouldn't say I gave up, I was still pointing everything out but come Jan 2006 I noticed my weight was starting to increase and so, I then had to change things to lose the weight again!
I think what is crucial here is, whatever way you lose weight, you have to ask yourself, am I prepared to live like this for the rest of my life? For me, I am not prepared to point things out so in my eyes WW and SW will not work. I am presently adopting a clean diet and regular exercise, 6 months in...so far so good and the big difference is...............I want to live like this, and not just feel as though "this is what I have to do". Big difference.
I feel a little embarassed that at my age (cough cough lol) I'm only really understanding the effects of food and hormones on my body but as they say, it's never too late!

When I was in college, I topped the scales around 380lbs. I went home one summer through the next fall semester and lost about 100 lbs in 7 months. Then I got very deep into drugs and alcohol and went from 280ish to 327 when I started on WW last year. I lost a whole bunch of weight but in a way that didn't work for me. The fad diet I tried took the weight off, but I was grumpy, starving and tired all the time - I also never ever ever exercised so I was smaller but just flab. This time, I'm taking weight off in a more sensible way0

I lost 40 pounds in 2009, but then got stressed out, stopping paying attention to what I was eating and exercising and gained 70 (was at my highest weight ever)...ugh. That's why I'm here!0

i lost the equivilent to 3 dress sizes and looked fab and had abs and no second chin lol, but have put at least half of that back on from sheer lazyness..
i know what i looked like before and i know i achieved it so im gonna get there again!!!0 -
Mos I've ever lost at one time was 120 lbs and with a loss of 20 before that, a total of 140. That was the first time I actually combined daily exercise and sensible diet. Then, the excuses can roll in now, boyfriend, kids, etc..... here I am again... 10 years later. This time, I plan to keep it off and never stop moving.0

when i was 16 i started out at a healthy weight and lost way too much, 28 lbs... that was not a good idea. was definitely well into the underweight with a bmi near 18.
went back up gradually during college. reached another highish point in college, gained the 28 to be a normal weight plus about 10 more...
after that i lost about 18 lbs when i was done with college around 21-22 years old. back to a healthy weight.
then i bounced all around... back up 5 lbs from there at age 25. stayed there for a while. by the time i was 27 up about 10ish more and stayed there until after i had a baby. then got up about to 10 more than that. so gained a total of 25-30 between 25-32. i guess that's not too awful. but i didn't try until i reached the marker for "overweight" BMI.
this time i have lost 26 lbs. but i'm at a healthy range for my height and hope to stay there. this isn't the most i've lost but i don't think you can count weight loss that puts you in the underweight category when you are a teenager.0 -

16lbs. Im two lbs away from beating that this time around. Once I get past that, I think the reality that, Im actually going to do it this time, will finally set in. Right now *ive been here before* so it doesnt seem real just yet.0
