I started counting around the 7th of January after starting out the year doing more cardio. I had lost 4 lbs through that first week which was probably the water. After I started counting I lost 7 more over the next week and a half. So yeah down 11 lbs as of Friday, then we go out Saturday and I blow it but geesh I was 5 lbs heavier the next morning and still today am 4 lbs heavier than Friday. What's going on?! I figured the extra weight was water from high sodium but its not coming off. I worked hard Sun and Mon in the gym.

Are you weighing yourself at the same time each day? Our weight fluctuates throughout the day, so make sure you are weighing in at the same time and wearing the same type of clothing. Do you have any underlying health issues? A weight gain of 5 pounds over night is alarming to hear in my line of work.0

Same time same clothing.. I ate much later the night before that weigh in so I figured it was just retention but now 2 days later and its still there is what has me puzzled.0

After a splurge, it takes me about 4 to 5 days to lose the weight I gained. Sodium really affects me - not just my weight but my heart as well, I have high blood pressure. Give it time and make sure you are drinking enough water. Also (TMI alert) if you haven't had a bowel movement - as sometime that food can clog you - it can affect your weight. Water is great to help that, as is yogurt.0

That's what I was assuming but I didn't expect 4-5 days. I guess I'm not gonna splurge for a while! My motivation can't handle set backs like that!! LOL! I'm not going to weigh in the rest of this week either. Thanks!0

Yes it can be shocking. When I splurge - it is a splurge. I am talking bacon, cheeseburgers and fries and dessert - maybe even appetizers. That is a huge wreck to my diet so I try not to do it often.0

I'm sorry but if you've gained back weight but you are still 6-7 pounds down from the 7th that is NOTHING to be upset about. Keep losing weight, stick with it, and don't expect more than 1-2 pounds per week. ( I haven't lost ANYTHING in 5 weeks now. Just keep at it)0

You lost a lot of weight very fast. It is probably a matter of your body regulating your hydration levels. Just to gain one pound, you would have to eat 3500 calories plus maintenance calories. Even with a blow out that would be almost 6000 calories in one day to gain 1 pound. I doubt you ate that many calories.0
