just wondered what you all were planning to do for this... anyone invited to one? how do you plan on getting through it and staying within your limits?

I am personally not too excited about the super bowl this year; however, I won't give up an invite to a super bowl party!!! I am working out that morning and I will most likely make a dish that I can eat without feeling guilty and maybe even eat something at home before hand to be full. I have no doubt that I may pick at chips and such, but all in moderation. :)

I don't even know who is playing, and no party invites here. We have two young children - 2yo and 4 months old so we aren't doing anything anyway.

i guess i was wondering more what you plan on doing if you have no control over the menu. i could bring something but that means i have only control over what i bring, not the other food there.

I think I am watching most of it from my treadmill. I will be hanging out with my kiddos, so I will have a veggie tray and fruit tray plus maybe some turkey meatballs. I am supposed to make cookies to send with my DH, so I will probably have a couple. What I REALLY should do is NOT make the cookies and send something healthy for him, too - I'm working on bringing him around. Maybe some Texas Caviar would be better, but we'll see who wins the battle.
I know I will have some junk, so I will just have to earn it with a good workout.

    Thats the whole idea.....
plan.... Plan it like you would any other day...

I never go out, I prefer my wide screen at home, the comforts of my couch, a blanket and my food porn to go with the Patriots WINNING THE SUPERBOWL BABY!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!

You can ask the host what they are planning for their menu to get an idea of what you can eat. You can also work out a little before too to give you extra calories to eat.

Another option is to eat at home before going to the party and then munch on veggies etc when you get there...

yeah i did ask them about that... i think i'll just have to think of some healthy stuff we can bring along. any additional suggestions? already bringing a veggie tray, probably some pretzels, maybe a few other low calorie types of snack foods... i'm open to any and all ideas for healthy super bowl options. they will have nachos, vegetarian chili, probably other people will bring stuff too

eating at home before hand never works for me. people look at me like i'm weird for not eating and then i just end up over eating.

I'm super excited about the Super bowl... go giants!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to pick at a little bit of everything in moderation and have a few brew's, anytime I know I'm gonna drink or eat out I make sure to work hard at the gym that day so I don't feel so guilty.

work out hard that day and the day after (I don't drink tons so won't be hungover), eat lightly for my other meals on Super Bowl day and just enjoy. listen to my body for when I'm full and eat only things that taste really good. I'm having a party so will have control but still planning on goodies.

Since super bowl only comes along one time a year and my friend plans a fabulous party with the most delicious food ever, i will be eating anything i want, logging whatever i eat, and trying not to worry about it too much. I consider it like a holiday and i know i don't eat that way many other times. A lot of it is grilled meats too. I do plan to do one helluva workout in the morning though so i won't worry at the party. Just have fun :) Try to enjoy it, but don't go overboard. Drink lots of water that day and after to flush out any extra salt you ate
  • I cant wait for the superbowl. My team the Giants are in it!!! WOOHOO... also my bday falls on Saturday night of superbowl weekend.
I plan to hit the gym hard from now 1/27 until 2/3- so i can celebrate my bday with a few cocktails - ok well more then a few and have some good pickenings sunday...

One day does not destroy a weight loss plan. If I'm going to a Super Bowl party, I'm relaxing with my friends, watching a game, eating food, and not worrying about it. There's nothing wrong with going over calories once in awhile, for special occasions.
