Hey All!
I am just running out of my bread and looking to buy a new one that gives me the best bang for my buck so to speak. I was eating a Country Harvest Multigrain and once slice was 110 cal which I think is alot but maybe not, so looking for everyone's input.
Thanks!!
K

healthy life 35 calorie per slice... the white taste better than the wheat to me, so I alternate one week white, one week wheat.0

It's too bad all the 30-40 cal bread brands aren't in Canada - I bought a bag once while on vaca but it isn't something I can buy in bulk cross-border shopping like Cherry Coke Zero or Fruit Punch Crystal Light. The lowest cal is the Weight Watchers bread and its 2x the price of regular bread.
I just get whole wheat like Dempster’s at 180 cals for 2 slices.
If you really want to know my favourite - I LOVE bread, ever since I was a baby and snuck the pizza crust away from my parents and gnawed on it for hours it would probably be a french baguette, mmmmm0 -
Thomas's Sahara mini pitas, Mission low carb whole wheat tortillas (taco size) and Pepperidge farm Light Style Whole grain bread.0

Are you going for the healthiest or just the lowest cal? If you are going for the lowest cal there are some that offer 35-45 cal a slice.
But
I'd suggest Ezekiel Brand sprouted grain bread the regular wheat is 80 calories a slice and SOOOOO good for you.0 -
I've been looking for the sprouted grain bread. Ezekiel or Healthy Way has it. do you know what stores carry it??0
-
I like the sandwich thins and bagel thins.
"Real" bread? then Natures Owl white wheat bread is perfect!0 -

I don't know if you have Kroger where you live, but both of the ones by me carry it. It's in the freezer section with the health foods and it $4.99 a loaf.
If you have a Trader Joes near you, they have it for $3.99 a loaf and also the Trader Joes Sprouted grain bread is good and only $3.29 a loaf.0 -
Thank you very much0

I make my own whole grain bread so it's much cheaper and I can alter the size of slices.0

35 calories a slice isn't really bread. It's air. I like Pepperidge Farms Whole Grain 100% Whole Wheat. It's about 100 calories a slice, and plenty of fiber.
I usually alternate between that, and making my own oat bread.0 -
I like to make bread from scratch in my bread machine-wheat, bagels etc...
If I am buying from the store I like the Trader Joes sprouted wheat or Rye bread--very yummy and only 60 cal/slice and all natural made with real food ingredients.0 -
The best way to choose your bread is to look at calories and fiber...for every 100 kcals you should get a minimum of 3grams of fiber. If its less than that move on to another one. I get Sara Lee Healthy Multi-Grain. One slice is 90kcals & 4g of fiber. And it taste good. Hope this helps!0
-
Sara Lee 45 Calories and Delightful wheat or multigrain. They are both good and filling and only contribute 90 calories to your sandwich.0
-
They don't contribute anything else to nutrition, either. I'd rather have a whole grain bread with more calories that's actually beneficial, nutrient wise.0

If you are looking for low call try the healthy life... i get waaay over in my fiber without my bread. I only eat about 3 slices a week so it won't make or break me. If you are looking for more than "air" try someone's response above. lol.. I guess we have alot of bread eaters on the forum. not me.0
-
Thanks Everyone! Will look into these brands.0

I love orowheat healthfull flax and fiber bread!0

I honestly stay clear of bread and like my oatmeal better. Or Rice Cakes mm0

Beefsteak Pumpernickel 120 for 2 slices....yummy!0

I live in Canada and was able to purchase Dempster's "Body Wise" multigrain bread at Sobey's. It was the cheapest bread in the section! 50 cals per slice0 -
I like the Safeway Bakery Counter stuff. 130-140 cals for 2 slices (depending on the kind you get) its grainy and yummy! and not super skinny like 2 ply toilet paper like the weight watchers bread I've tried0

I usually eat healthy no preservatives ancient grain whole grain bread , which is very calorie dense. Howevert I can suggest you a very good tortilla.
Latortilla factory , fiber rich small size tortilla, 90 calorie with 7 grams fiber and 5 protein. I have never seen such high fiber and protein content in a small size tortilla.
It is may not be in a regular grocery store, but you can buy them in Canada. I buy them an Italian supermarket.0 -
Dave's Killer Bread, 21 Grain. The bomb. That is all.0
