I'd say not - just weigh up the risk of slipping vs. the risk of carpet burn!

I prefer carpet for working out since stomping and flopping around on hardwood makes much more noise.

Regardless of what you have, I would get those rubber mats with the puzzle edges. It saves your floor.

If you are replacing your floors, hardwood floors has a lot more appeal to future home buyers. Also carpets can trap dust and allergens.

    Yep, happened to me! :)
  • I have noticed that regular floor is less slippery. When I work out on my carpet my shoes are constantly slipping.

  • I actually prefer the slipperyness of hardwood floors to the friction of carpet.

Was not expecting the thread to be about what it's about.
looks like i'm not the only one.

Exercise mats aren't a bad choice for hard floors. Sweat on carpet is icky.

For other purposes, I prefer a very low pile carpet runner.

Yeah, me too. Shows where my mind is. Totally threw me off.

But to answer your question, if you're not going to use an exercise mat carpet is probably better for your joints.
