Has anyone been more irritable since starting to lose weight? I'm finding I am...I can' guarantee that's the cause but the timing is about right...anyone?

Your calorie goal is pretty low for a man-- maybe you should try eating a little more if it's making you irritable? I know I get grouchy when I'm hungry.0

Large calorie restriction can definitely lead to irritability. You might be cutting too much. American College of Sports Medicine puts the minimum calories for a man to be 1800.0

what would be the minimum calorie limit for a woman?? I know I'm feeling the same way - and based on my goals myfitnesspal suggests I have 1200 calories per day.
I am not as hungry lately - but I feel tired and irritable.0 -

It could be that you are not eating enough, it also could be because you are in mourning. All so often we turn to food for our comfort, it is like a good friend. So when we have to give it up, we get upset, because we have lost our best friend.
Baby peas and dark chocolate(in moderation) help with mood, and of course there is exercise, that always helps me.

How much do you workout? I feel better I think now becuae I workout 5-6 days and the endorphine's keep me happier..also I also agree about upping your cals....whole grains will help you feel fuller longer. Good Luck!!0

yes -.- my friends tell me I get "cranky" when I'm hungry.
And I have been yelling at people, it's so obvious that food's the trigger as well! Like my sister just came home with Burger King to share with everyone and that irritated me so I just left the room. Not being able to eat whatever I want puts me in a really bad mood - but I don't want to go to my old habits so it's a never ending cycle, if I eat it I'll feel crap so I lose either way and that's enough to irritate me, let alone when I'm hungry! (Which I'm not ATM, I just had a huge tasty breakfast).
Still, I get what you're saying. I think it's mainly because I used to turn to junk food when I was angry, and now I need to find a new outlet, lol!
EDIT: Just thought I'd add, I LOVE working out and it gets rid of my anger - but I noticed straight after my work out I'll be ready to snap at the next person who talks to me, just because my heart rates up.0 -
I've been doing well so far, I'm on day 21. But today was one of thos RoseAnn Barr snickers moments. I got home and just started grouching because this and that and this and that, and my husband says why don't you go eat a snickers. So after he made me take notice and think about it, I realized I had only eaten 700 calories for the day and that was taking in account the food I had already written in for supper, that I hadn't eaten yet, so I agree that maybe your calorie intake is to low.0

EDIT: Just thought I'd add, I LOVE working out and it gets rid of my anger - but I noticed straight after my work out I'll be ready to snap at the next person who talks to me, just because my heart rates up.
That's exactly why I have not restricted ANY foods from my diet. I do eat whatever I want, I just make sure to keep a reasonable weekly calorie deficit.0 -

1800 seems pretty high to me. I mean it's about 500 calories under my maintenance but I was shooting for losing 2lbs a week purely through diet. I wanted any exercise I do to be loss (or muscle gain) on top of the weight I'm losing from dieting.0 -

I know, I don't restrict anything I want either - especially at the beginning, but now 6 months in I find it hard to justify 500 calories worth of chips when I can have so many foods that actually have some sort of nutrients instead.
I do feel better in the long-term when I avoid junk food, but in the short term it makes me snap! It's possible my deficit is too big and maybe that's why...0 -

You will have to watch out with eating too little - especially if you will start exercising too! There are lots of forums about this, do some reading up on it before you decide.
For me, I get really grumpy too when I'm hungry. That has always been the case with me, even before trying to lose weight. My boyfriend sometimes says to me: "When is the last time you have eaten? You're starting to get a little grumpy." Haha so true!
When I started this, I was on 1200 calories. I upped it to 1400-1500 and it is amazing what 200 calories more a day can do! I feel so much better!0
