Anyone tried celestial sleepy time tea?

I drink it to relax and wind down, but it doesn't keep me asleep. I wake up in pain often (chronic pain issues from RA) or from one or both of my children shoving their way into my bed!0

Doesn't make me sleepy... just relaxed. However, the two main teas that make Sleepy Time are Chamomille & Peppermint combined. Both teas are known for their diuretic effect. Yes, i know all teas have that effect.... but, these teas seem to have a bit more of a 1-2 punch. I drink hot teas every night but, on the days when ive had too much sodium in my diet I drink Chamomille or Sleepy Time & I SWEAR it help me eliminate the excess water weight form the sodium! :drinker:
To get a good night's sleep I use Valerian Root. It is an all natural herb... non-habit forming. Relaxes the mind & body. I have 3 kids who are all insomniacs & discovered Valerian Root several years ago. I prefer it to Melatonin which is known to produce some wierd dreams in many people .It works well for us & we all wake up feeling refreshed after each use.0 -
Melatonin helps with sleep. It comes in pills or you can get in some teas as well. That worked for me for years.0

I used to have terrible sleeping patterns and found by drinking a mug of either sleepy time or cozy chamomile tea before bed and then using a product by Origins called Peace of Mind, which you rub it into your temples, neck and forehead. These two things assist with getting me to sleep but don't necessary keep me asleep. On really bad nights I use Peace of Mind if I wake up and am unable to go back to sleep, the 10 minutes of focusing on the Peace of Mind takes your mind off whats bothering you and you drop off to sleep in no time at all.0

So there are some mixed reviews here as to whether or not the tea helps with sleep, though I think all of you that have had it like the taste of it.
I think I will try the tea, and maybe look into getting some melatonin.
Thanks for everyone's input!0 -
Yeah, I ran out a while ago though lol. Hot tea=yum, especially if it's with chamomile.0

I use Traditional Medicinals Chamomile and Lavendar. I have used the Sleepy Time as well. Both work great. I usually have a hard time falling asleep so youtube videos for relaxation help.
I love tea as well so if you appreciate tea you'll love the same ones I do

Try a Melatonin supplement about 30 minutes before you go to bed. Melatonin is the "sleep hormone" that your body naturally makes (although obviously it doesn't always make enough!), so it's completely natural & safe!
I've tried the off brands (Wally World, Walgreen etc. etc.) but never got good results, had to take a huge dose (per the bottle) with no effect.
I'm very happy with the Sundown Naturals Brand 'Super Snooze' Melatonin Formula. I've found the 3mg works perfect for me. My Dr. suggested I try several brands to see if any of them worked and suggested 5-10mg, as I shared above I did try several and ended up this was the one that worked well. I've stayed with it and it's only 3mg.
It doesn't contain artificial colors, flavor, sweeteners, yeast, gluten, wheat, sugar, soy etc....listing these for those that are intolerant of any of that type of thing. There's more listed I'm sure you can look at their site on Google but this is some that were on the bottle.
Another thing I believe helps this be more active is it also contains: Calcium, Magnesium, Valerian Root, Hops, Skullcap, Chamomile, Passion Flower, Inositol, L-Taurine & then of course Melatonin.
Everything it contains is a natural body relaxant, some you can find in teas etc. but as I said, I'm quite happy with this one after trying all the others. This might be a brand to start out with and see if you can get by with the low dose of 3mg.
To give you a rough idea of cost, I buy a 90 day bottle for less than $9 and this is considered a very reputable brand.
Yes, I sound like an infomercial.. but really all I want to do is share what's worked for me after trying all the others. This is one I'd highly recommend to save your self money from trying others that might be more costly and simply not work.
I do remember the other brands didn't contain the natural herbs with the calming properties, perhaps it's the combo that does it for me.
Hope you find something that works for you soon, I remember what it was like to keep waking up...:yawn:0 -
i'm a huge insomniac. i love sleepytime tea. it tastes great and is very soothing, but it doesn't help me sleep. good luck getting some better rest!0
-
I have some in my cupboard...very tasty! That or plain chamomile always help me sleep.0

you don't sound like an infomercial! That is a lot of great info!
Where did you get that? Were you able to get it at stores like walmart, target, walgreens, etc?0 -

ETA: I noticed they also sell it online as well. There are several varieties, I'd say Sundown Naturals 'Super Snooze' might be just what you need to change up your sleep back to a full nights sleep.:happy:0 -
I'm drinking sleepytime right now. Love it. I also take some melatonin as well. I've always had sleeping problems and, while the tea doesn't necessarily put me to sleep, the melatonin knocks me out about 45 mins after I take it.0
-
Winds me down but doesn't make me sleep necessarily.
A bath with some lavender & a lavender pillow spray helps but if I need knocking out the only thing for it is something like Night Nurse. Which isn't good in the long term!0 -
When I was younger, I used to drink it all the time. But for some reason, now it has the opposite effect on me.0
-
i agree,,,it doesn't so much help me sleep as it does just relaxes me and helps me wind down after a stressful day at work or running errands0

I swear by sleepytime tea. My sleep pattern gets really wonky when I'm stressed so I usually drink sleepy time tea for a few nights in a row to make sure I get the sleep I need and maintain my sleep cycle.
Some important notes: it should be drunk 45-30 minutes before bed and you have to get 8 hours of sleep or you'll be drowsy when you wake up since it takes up to 8 hours to leave your body.
While I love it, its not good for insomniacs. However, if you just need it to help with restless sleep I would definitely recommend it0
