Working out when you're upset? Most people think its the best time to work out because you can take your anger out. But nope. Not me. I tried and gave up after 12 minutes. I couldnt get myself into it. I burned a whopping 79 calories. :noway:
Am I the only odd ball?

Depends on what you're doing. If I'm really upset I can spend a good long time beating the ever loving cr@p out of my boxing bag.0

Nope, same thing happens to me. I still do it, but I don't put anywhere near as much energy into it. If I don't feel motivated I can't really get into it.0

I've had those days. You're human.0 -
For me, it helps to do a workout that lifts my spirits. Treadmills, meh. Salsa fitness class or some fitness class that is also fun? Now that works every time. For me.0

If i'm upset then cardio usually puts me in a good mood (thank you endorphins) but if I'm angry or emotional in another way then I really struggle to work out0

Totally!
Find me a Zumba class and I'll smile while I'm shakin' my butt.
Ask me to hit the treadmill on a day I feel like crap, and I'll tell you where you can shove that treadmill.
At least you went and had a little burn. Getting there is half the battle.
BUT - make sure you get back in the saddle, find something that brings you joy0 -
Cardio is tough when I'm upset or have alot on my mind but when I'm lifting the anger def helps!0

At least you tried!! That is a *huge* accomplishment.
Don't get mad, get TaeBo. Or Insanity. I cuss a lot during Insanity. Read an article that cussing helps with pain management.0 -
I loved working out when I am angry...I spent all of my college Mondays at the gym after I had a stupid sorority meeting! Unfortunately those meetings weren't every day otherwise I would have been super fit :laugh:0

Obviously, by all these posts, you are totally NOT alone! For me it depends on what upset means. if I am pissed off, the treadmill gets it! If I am sad then I have a hard time focusing and instead of hitting the gym I may just take the dog for a walk.0

Hmm i don't know. When I was with my girlfriend we both gained "comfort weight" in a year from drinking and eating out. Broke up, and worked out with so much intensity and determination with a broken heart. I guess pain is my strength. We are all unique which makes us human and the saying goes "whatever floats your boat". :laugh:0
