Hi and welcome! I would suggest adding recipes to your database by ingredients so you can gave an accurate count. It takes time and patience but logging dies help lead a healthy lifestyle. Looking for mire friends too :)
  • hello! I did weight watchers a few years ago and honestly this is way easier, you just log what you eat and it does all the counting for you. Its a great site =) I am trying this for the 3rd time, not because it didn't work but because I got lazy and slacked off..but this really does work =)

Get yourself a scale and enjoy.
  • Hi there,

My advice as far as calorie counting is concerned is to first of all, always read labels, calories are important but also pay attention to excess sugars, excess salts as well as unhealthy fats such as trans fats as well as high levels of saturated fat. Alot of so called "fat free" foods are loaded with excess sugars and/or salts to make up for the taste factor of being so called "fat free". I would also reccomend maybe looking into buying a cheap, inexpensive food scale, that way when cooking at home you can accurately measure what a sensible portion is and not only do you know exactly how much your eating and what constitutes as a portion but you will also know 100% how many calories you are taking in from that particular portion, I wish you the best of luck in your health endeavors!

Welcome aboard. I think the biggest difference from WW will be that there is no "free foods" on MFP. Fruit and veggies have calories and it is good to log them. I don't get obsessive about the contents of every single salad but I will log a similar one so I have the record and the calories there.

My only other tips are - don't eat too little, don't eat too much, moderate exercise and repeat!!
  • Thank you for all of the responses! I have a scale, but it's collecting dust. So I will get it out.
