    Very good post!
When ever I am tempted by a terrible treat I tell myself, No, I already did that. OR I already know how that tastes. And then I say I don't do that anymore because that is what made me fat." It is so empowering to say it out loud. It is the truth. Truth that no one wants to say out loud. But if you do it goes back into your ears, you hear it, and its coming from you, no one else and it is empowering! Attitude, we all get one. We all get to CHOOSE one!

Warriors and Champions don't blame others, they are too busy fixing the issues and pushing forward.

I have found that my mindset grows with each passing day. My enthusiasm level is at an all time high.

My Dad and I were talking about this exact same thing yesterday. He had been to the doctor on Monday and was told he needed to lose weight. He's 75 years old with multiple health problems and he of course knew he needed to lose it. He has lost major poundage in the past only to gain it back over time. So he was saying he just wasnt ready yet, that maybe come Spring when he could get outside and work in the garden and such he would feel more like doing it. Thats when we got into the mindset issue. That if your mindset was not right it would make every day a struggle on your journey.

My Dad was one of the reasons i started into this journey. First time I had decided to lose weight in a long time. I had just convinced myself that this was me and this would always be me. I was having extreme back issues at the time and had been to a specialist who recommended back injections every three months. I didnt really like that option so I went to see my doctor. He gave me four options. 1) Do the injections by the specialist 2) He would send me to a pain doctor and get me on a regiment of pain medications 3) Have weight loss surgery or 4) Lose weight. I quickly weighed my options and knew immediately what was right for me. Number (1) I didnt want to have a temorary fix every three months. Number (2) I am opposed to taking pain meds every single day for the rest of my life. Number (3) and no offense to anyone who did this, but weight loss surgery was not for me. I've seen too many failures amongst my friends who went this route and I'm really opposed to pain. Finally Number (4) was a permanent solution and would help me also with my high cholesterol, triglycerides, high blood pressure etc. I made my mind up on the spot, was an easy choice.

So I asked him to send me to a dietician to understand the foods I was eating and what I should be eating. I've seen her monthly now for four months since I started this journey. She says I'm her star pupil. The receptionist tells me that every time I come in Christine (my dietician) is happy all day long and bounces off the wall telling everyone how good I am doing. For the 14 weeks I've been doing this, I've never gone over my calorie count of 1500 calories even with the holidays in the mix. My energy levels are unbelievable which is wonderful for me. I havent had to see my therapist since starting this. My mind is focused and I look forward to every single day now. I've not had a day of staying in bed all day just because I didnt want to get up. I love preparing my foods and doing my grocery list with a focus on exactly what I want to eat and not by just seeing what looks good at the moment. And bottom line, I believe that mindset is the very first thing you must have to start this journey of a lifetime.

I've got a long way to go still. But I can promise you that I WILL get there and stay there! Sorry for the long response but my new life just overflows in my body and my mind.

Great post. Thank you for the motivation. I'm a new memeber and I've already had a couple bad days. But I've pushed through and kept attitude and lost 5 lbs in this first week. I hope I can continue and will keep your thoughts in mind when I start to doubt myself!!

    I concur!

This year instead of saying a 'New Year, New Me' I am following the motto 'New Year, New Attitude". Having a more positive and upbeat attitude will help me achieve so much more and open a variety of doors with new possibilities!

It's very true, your head has to be in the right place or you're wasting your time and just undoing your confidence. It's like giving up smoking or any addiction - you can't do it until YOU want to do it and you're ready. Yes I know being overweight is my own fault, Yes I know it's bad for my health, Yes I know I'm the only one that can do anything about it but not until I've decided I'm ready.

And boy am I ready now...... so watch out pounds you're going down......(cue western style movie shoot out music & tumbleweeds)

Good luck to everyone - don't forget it's ok to lose a few battles, it's winning the war that counts

Thanks for those words of encourgement!! No pain, no gain.:smooched:

I had a person once tell me that I will never be as thin as I used to be. Well, guess what, that only encourged me to work out even harder, so the next time I see that person, they are going to say, dam you look awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take the negative and turn it into a positive for yourself. I know I have and already lost 9 pounds.
