Noticing I'm going over on Sugar each day

My goal target is set at 24 for SUGAR when I input to my food journal. I've noticed that although I'm eating a healthy bunch of food each day, i am going over by at least 10 on Sugar most days. I am avoiding artificial sweeteners and am using fruit mostly as a substitute but most fruits add up quickly to my max sugar intake.

Does it matter if your sugar is over if you feel it was healthy choices that put you there? ie: banana cut into yogurt, apple mixed into oatmeal, etc.

I'm also going over on protien.
My caloric intake is on target each day (1200) and so is my fat and carbs.

I've been trying to focus mostly on calories but haven't been losing weight at the rate i would of hoped to.

I want to know the answer to this too. I go over my sugar everyday but it's all from fruits.

it is confusing b/c i used to do weight watchers and it was basically "free" food if you were eating fruits and veggies. I would like to work even more fruit in to my daily meals but then my sugar would be quite high.

I did WW for a little bit and lost weight and I too ate tons of fruits and veggies so it is confusing. I hope someone will answer this.

I saw a post on another board and it says not to worry about sugar if it's coming from fruit and if you're not a diabetic.

I'm always EXTREMELY over on sugar. It's mostly from fruit. I don't worry about it.

Going over on sugar and protein are okay if it's not a huge amount. But if your just going over because of fruit it is probably okay.
I usually go over on protein and some on sugar also.

don't worry about sugar from fruit.

and it is not weird that you are going over protein since mfp have a very low setting on this, never worry about going over protein, rater be happy that you do since it helps your muscle building and can help preventing soreness (what I've heard)

I'm in no way an expert on this but for the past 8 years I've been glucose intolerant/borderline diabetic. I control it with diet and exercise so I try to read everything I can get my hands on about diabetes and how to prevent. With that said.....Yes if your sugar is from fruit you don't need to worry....however keep in mind your body uses this "fuel" first when burning calories. Sugar in any form that you get it is going to spike your blood sugar and it's up to your insulin levels to counter that. If you want to burn more fat, cut back on your fruit and up your veges since the sugar content isn't as high in those. Also fill up with protein and whole grains. :) Hope this helps, good luck on your journey :)

I went over almost daily and I lost 35 lbs. So long as its from fruit I wouldn't worry at all. You should, however, be eating a tad more than the bare minimum calories in my opinion :) I ate close to 2000 daily with exercise and lost 2lbs/week like clock work :)
