how many races do you run?

i got talked into running a half-marathon with a friend on may 20th. i sat down and wrote out my training schedule. it was the perfect amount of time to train. then i remembered that i was going to participate in a half marathon june 3rd. they are only 2 weeks apart, which has me kind of nervous, but oh well. then, a friend asked me to run a half-marathon with her april 15th. i will only be at 11 miles on my training schedule but i said yes because no one else would do it with her. and then an email came reminding me of a prostate cancer 5k (i have run this in memory of my dad for the last 2 years) for june 16th.
is this just crazy? or is it doable? how many races do you run and how far apart are they?
*i have done 2 half-marathons in the past - walked one in june (after abdominal surgery in april) and ran one in october. i just had abdominal surgery again in december so i feel like i am starting over as a runner.

I have six races planned for February through October, ranging from 5K to Half. The closest together are about two weeks apart, but in both cases they're 10Ks with a Half two weeks later (I think you can see my race schedule in my profile).
How did you feel after your Half in October? I was pretty well unable (mentally perhaps more than physically) to run for about ten days after my first half last fall, and when i finally did get out running again, it was weeks before I could bring myself to get up into double digit kilometres. My concern with your schedule would be the two Half two weeks apart (May 20 and June 3). Personally, I would find that too close together if I planned to run full out / try for PRs in both. I might be able to do it if I took it pretty easy on one or both.0 -
Half marathon jan 7th
Full marathon jan 8th
Half marathon april 22nd
Full marathon June 3rd
Half marathon sept 2nd
10k oct 28th
Hoping to add another half in October or November.0 -
I totally wish I could run a marathon and survive... not quite there yet though.
I do at least 4-5 5k's a year.0 -
First, Daisy2jae congrats on going Goofy! I missed it this year but am looking forward to Princess next month and Goofy 2013. Is your 10k in October the MC by chance?
Now as far as how many, it really depends on your training and recovery ability. Back to back I have done a 5k on Friday, 1/2 Marathon on Saturday and Full Marathon on Sunday (Goofy Challenge or Dopey with the 5k). I have also done 5 half marathons in 4 weeks. I also belong to a running group called the Half Fanatics so we might be...a LITTLE Fanatical
I would say if you recovery easily that should be plenty of time.0 -

My 10k is in sioux falls, sd. Goal for this year's 10k...lose 20% of my body weight by the race so my hubby will dress up for the goofy 2013 (half race) we'll be the crazy people in a tutu! The 10k is a Halloween race so lots of people dress up. It would be a good chance to try out the costume running before goofy weekend.0 -
This really depends on your overall fitness and your current running patterns. Two half marathons a couple of weeks apart isn't too big a deal to me, but I have no idea what your running history looks like. I will say if you can run 11, you can run 13 miles
I currently have a full marathon July 29 (SF Marathon) and another (hopefully) for October (Nike Women's Marathon). I'm still deciding on what other races I want to do. I love doing half marathons, so I might throw one in between or before my July race.0 -
daisy, you're a beast! i love your schedule!
thanks everyone else for replying. i think i will be okay; i'm just nervous with so many large races so close together. last year i did 14 races, but only 2 big ones.0
