I would suggest eating higher calorie foods (such as nuts, peanut butter, avocado or even cooking in olive oil) or preplanning your workouts so you eat through the day. You can also search Katch McArdle or even include your exercise into your lifestyle calculation. For example. I have a sedentary job but am listed as very active since I do P90X2 and workout 6 days a week

Thats a personal choice (excercise)..however it is very easy to tack on calories, without feeling stuffed - add good fats (EVOO, coconut oil), nuts, peanut butter, avocados etc - choose calorie dense foods

I thought about that, but then there are days when I don't exercise.

It's ok, you can see the below guidelines. Even if you workout 3 days a week, you can set your lifestyle as lightly active. Also, with this approach, you dont have to worry about eating your exercise calories.

Sedentary = BMR X 1.2 (little or no exercise, desk job)
    Lightly active = BMR X 1.375 (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/wk)
    Mod. active = BMR X 1.55 (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk)
    Very active = BMR X 1.725 (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days/wk)
Extr. active = BMR X 1.9 (hard daily exercise/sports & physical job or 2X day training, i.e marathon, contest etc.)

I thought about that, but then there are days when I don't exercise.

Great advice-- However, if you are considering your excercise when selecting your lifestyle for BMR purposes and deducting those excercises from your net cals... you are probably doubling the excercising cals... but, if it is working, don't mess with it lol.

See below response. Already thought of it.
