Ok , so I have to know, is there a problem with the calorie determination on this site? It shows me as needing to stay at 1650 for a day, when everywhere else I check shows me between 1800-2200. Im 5'7, 224lb, have a desk job and workout 4-5 days a week....

    Aim high.
TDEE is high so cut 20%.

    Thats like 1800-2k daily.

    i'm 5'5" and lose 1lb a week at 2k.

Are the other sources taking into account the weight you want to lose every week?

Nope no problem, it is just MFP doesn't include your energy expenditure...so that is why it is important to eat back your exercise calories as to keep a 500 cal deficit each day.

MFP has my calories around 1300, but everything else I've read has me at 1700. I don't know why MFP has it so low. I don't know what calculations they use. I'd go the number that most sites are giving you, even if that means not following MFP.

MFP is flawed in the fact that it doesnt ask for measurements.
My advice to anyone 5'3" or taller is to never go below 1600 calories.
    You will lose weight.

Get your numbers from Fat To Fit Radio under Tools.
Military body fat calc then BMR tool.
Dont cut any calories from the BMR tool.
Eat what it tells you for a month to see if its for you.
    Chances are its perfect!
  • follow what myfitnesspal says your calorie intake should be and thats your food intake just because you exercise and burn 1000 calories dont mean you can eat 1000 calories more good luck too all and feel free too add me daily user
  • so I guess Im not the only one, I updated my daily calorie intake to be at 1850 last week and still ended up losing 3lbs this week even though MFP told me 1650. I dont eat all my calories everyday so maybe over time it evens out, I dont really know.

I rarely eat back excercise calories, after the gym I usually have a protien shake or protien bar, thats about it.

There are tons of different ways to calculate cals/lose weight. Some factor in exercise, some don't. Some factor in weight loss automatically, some don't. All use formulas to ESTIMATE, so none are going to be 100% correct all the time for every one.

Pick one method and stick with it. If you want to use MFP, then use MFP. If you don't, that's fine too... but when you start mixing methods/strategies you're bound to run into problems.

    Makes sense to me.
    Try it for a month.
for the first few days you will gain water weight but in the long run you will lose fat and maintain muscle and boost metabolism.

I lose weight at anything below 2500 calories.
Took a long time for me to understand that.
