Nothing's Working!

Hi!
So I'm using MFP, and hitting my calorie, fat and carb targets. I'm exercising at least 2-3 times per week. According to MFP, I should be losing at least 2 lbs per week, but it's been 3-4 months and not a pound. There's been a tiny bit of change in how my clothes fit, but I also haven't gone down a size at all.
And yes, I'm making healthful choices in my food intake, and yes I'm doing a combo of cardio and strength in my workouts. I feel better but seeing SOMETHING change would be nice, it's getting hard to stay motivated.
Thoughts from the peanut gallery? :)

Its tough to tell without seeing your diary. Are you eating your exercise calories back? Maybe you're not eating enough?

If you are doing everything right and still not losing. You may need to go to the doctor to see if there is a health reason for it.
    If everything is OK then maybe;
Get a food scale and make sure your portions are correct. We tend to under estimate portion size. You may be eating more then you think.
An HRM will give you a better calculation on how much you burn from exercise. MFP is very generous with calories burned. You may not be burning as much as you think.
  • I stopped eating back my workout calories and started losing.

I eat my calories and I do weigh my food. I do not exercise at all and I have lost at least my two pounds each week. There has to be something that is not right. Just go back and double check.

OMG- I'm in the EXACT same situation!! I do have a under active thyroid and have medication to regulate it. I've went so far as to make an appt with a endocronologist. (Maybe I'm pre-diabetic?) I've cut out all soda and sweets...still I havent lost a pound!! I do feel a slight difference in my clothes as well. SOOOO frustrating! Just know that you are not alone!
  • Wow, thanks for all the feedback! I have even cut gluten out for over a month just to see if it was bringing me down... I'll start to be more careful with the calories... that's got to be it... and I haven't been eating my exercise calories as a general rule... measuring everything will suck, but I guess that's what I'll try next (and maybe see the MD... it's been a while anyway haha)

thanks! And thanks for the support ;)

Without seeing your diary, it's hard to tell.....

    - Drink at least 8 glasses of water
    - Track your SODIUM and SUGAR (maybe you're eating too many foods with a lot of salt?)
    - if you don't already have one, buy a Heart Rate Monitor to accurately track your calories burned
    - Measure and weigh your food to ensure you're logging it correctly

Or... as others have suggested, you can contact your doctor to ensure there is no underlying reason for why you can't lose.

I know that from my own experience, people who have less to lose often have a harder time than people who have more to lose. It can be difficult to get the scale to budge. Otherwise, I think everyone here has great advice. Hang in there!

Just wanted you to know you aren't alone. I'm in the exact same boat. I'm working with a dietician and at her suggestion was to start entering everything myself as My Food - that way I know that the values are correct. She found several differences between what I was tracking using other people's entries and what the real values should be. Maybe give that a try.
