Nike+ ipod

I'm really getting into running and was thinking about purchasing the nike+ ipod thing. This will require me to by new shoes and the whole nine yards so before I spend all that money I'd like to get some feedback first.
Has anyone used this? How do you like it? Is it accurate at tracking distance? I have a heart rate monitor so I'm not really interested in the calorie counting but do you think that is accurate as well?
Any input is appreciated!
Thanks

My brother's girlfriend is a big time runner and she swears that thing is awesome. I have not personally used but like i said she loves it. She said you can actually track your progress and distance some how on nikes website, which is kinda cool.
Good Luck0 -
I've heard NOTHING but GOOD things about it. It helps you keep pace and everything!!!
I say go for it!!!
Good luck

You don't have to have a Nike shoe either you can buy a pouch that you put on your shoe. I have it but haven't started using it yet. I have to figure out how itt works.0

I LOVE the Nike+ it's what got me to finally start running and it keeps you motivated because it keeps track of pace/distance/calories/time so you get set goals. The distance is accurate but I want to get a HRM to see how close the calories are.
Definately try it!0 -
I love this little gadget! It keeps me going, my nike mini taunts me on my computer if I don't keep going so I have to keep her happy!
You can buy a pouch for the pod, I did because I can't find a pair of nikes I like but if you like nikes then by all means go for the shoes, although I hear people don't like the way the pod in the heal makes them feel.
We have a monthly challenge on the nike site for MFP members too, so double the motivation!
Go get one, get started and join us for the MFP june challenge! :drinker:0 -
Thanks for all of the responses! I'm really excited to get it.
Do you know where I can buy/order the pouch for my current running shoes?0 -
I personally use duct tape to attach the sensor to the top of my shoe. It's fast, cheap, and it lasts a few weeks at a go. Nike running shoes IMHO are too painful to ever be worth it, no matter what features they offer. If you want a pouch you could probably sew one together in about 10 minutes with some scrap cloth, the sensors are tiny.
I also get fun looks because I tend to use neon colored duct tape.0 -
I know you can get it online and actually personalize your shoes. For running, Nike, however, is not recommended. Everyone is different, though, so it you may like it. You may want to try Brooks, NB or Asics. Either way, good luck on your new shoes :flowerforyou:0

does anybody have the nike+ sportsband? I actually like to listen to books on tape while I run, so I don't want the ipod, but I looked into them a little and like the idea of the sportsband...0
