finding time to work out

I have two small kids at home and a husband that is gone a lot with work. I find it hard to find time to excercise. My youngest child is really needy and constantly wants me to hold him and cries and screams if I'm working out. Do you have any "fun" suggestions for working out that I could do with a 6 year old and a 20 month old. There are days were its too cold or windy to go outside (We have west texas dust storms). I usually try to work out after they both go to bed (which ends up being aroiund 9) and I don't have access to a gym. Suggestions are welcomed!!

    I know how you feel with two young kids. Would it be possible for you to just walk like a mile here at the track after school before getting the youngest? If so, that might be an option to at least get in a quick cardio. If not, then that walking track at the park on the north side of town is awesome. That's where I run and I am sure you could do a stroller and maybe the oldest ride her bike? Or even if there are some nice days, just going around the neighborhood. Also maybe on your conference just going to the gym and doing a couple of laps if you had time would never hurt. Just know that all the little things add up and consider the calories picking him up and carrying him and also chasing them! Or if the hubs just had 20 minutes, you could at least get in a quick jog. Try to research on the internet some suggestions for busy moms to get in a workout!

    Is your 6 year old in school? Does your 20 month old take a nap? I'd try to get an exercise DVD in when your baby is napping. A lot of DVDs are only 25-45 minutes so that should be doable. If not, maybe get up early in the morning and get it done? I have a 2yo and 4.5mo and work FT and for me to get the exercise I want in, I'm up at 5am and heading to the gym before work 3 times a week. :smile:

    Throw on some fun music and dance with your babies! Or have the little one give you a hand when you're "cleaning" (aka doing squats while you dust or whatever). You could even walk/jog with your little one in a stroller. ^_^ Anything that helps you break a sweat. It'll give you two things: a workout, and the knowledge that you're setting up your children for healthy habits.
