I'm trying to subtract some of the fat from my breakfast,
just looking for some good breakfast ideas at about 35 grams of carbs, 40 grams of protein and 5 grams of fat??
Thanks!

I'm not 100% on the nutritional info but my favorite is:
1/4 cup oatmeal (minute oats)
Mix 1/2 of a medium banana and 1/3 cup of skim milk (blend if you can) and then mix in with the minute oats.
Microwave on high for 45 seconds.
Add 1 tbsp of peanut butter, mix.
Microwave for another 45 seconds, and then enjoy!0 -
I am not a breakfast person so I eat an apple and then mixed fruit.
I have heard of a lot of MFPers eating eggs (whites or whole, maybe omelets).
Greek yogurt has a lot of protein and so does cottage cheese, but I don't know the carb count on these right off hand.0 -
saw this on the boards earlier this week and am going to try it myself:
Breakfast Tacos
2 corn tortillas (I used Mission - 80 calories)
2 Whites - (32 calories)
1/4 cup fresh spinach (2 calories)
1/2 pat of butter (18 calories)
1/2 roma tomato (9 calories)
Laughing Cow Garlic and Herb (35 Calories)
What you do:
Add butter to pan, melt.
Add your spinach and sautee for a minute.
Add your egg whites and cook
Add your laughing cow cheese and mix in with eggs
Heat your tortillas then divide your eggs in two and add to tortillas
Dice some tomatoes and add it to your breakfast tacos!0 -

Here's a healthy breakfast burrito favorite at our house:
6" Aztec flour tortilla
1/4-1/2 c. Egg Beaters
1 Morning Star sausage pattie
1 wedge of Reg. or Light Laughing Cow Swiss
Tastes awesome! I normally like to drink a V8 juice with this.0 -
There was a thread a while back about 'Egg Cups.' You use a muffin tin and fill it with eggs and whatever veggies and protein you like. I have been using a variation of this recipe with half the number of eggs whipped almost like mini quiches. The numbers are well within your limits. 116 calories each, 9g carbs, 6g fat, and 7g protein (this version has sausage in it and is the worst case scenario with low protein and high fat). I have done about 6 versions of this recipe so far, sausage and salsa, spinach and asiago, ham and cheese, mushrooms and caramelized onions, southwest chicken and peppers, and bacon tomato.
6 large eggs or 2 cups of egg substitute
1lbs container of sausage, cooked and drained
1 small onion, diced small, softened in a skillet
1/2 cup of milk
3/4 cup of salsa, your choice (my last was peach mango store bought variety)
Salt and pepper
Whisk eggs, milk, salt, and pepper in a bowl until thoroughly combined then stir in the salsa (don't beat it in because your cups will turn an unnatural pink color). Crumble the sausage and onion into the muffin cups, about 1.5 - 2Tbls per cup (use cupcake liners, it's just easier). Add the egg mix to the cups, about 1/4cup per cup. Bake at 350F for 20-22 minutes. Soive. They'll keep for over a week though I draw the line at 8 or 9 days, they can be frozen and thawed, and they microwave in less than a minute.0 -
These all sound yummy! Thanks for the original post, Haileyro! I have been looking for some other healthy breakfast options.0

I got this idea from a nutritionist I knew through my local Curves gym: she recommended dicing veggies in advance -- tomatoes, onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc -- as well as a little low fat meat or cheese (my favorite is Jeannie O's turkey with a little bit of extra sharp cheddar for taste) and then throwing everything together in a storage bag or container in your freezer. Then get yourself a carton of egg whites and some whole wheat tortilla wraps and it takes about 3 minutes to cook 1/4 - 1/2 cup egg whites with the freezer mix and eat wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla. You can even microwave the concoction if you are in a morning rush.0
