New to MFP looking for friends, fun and extra motivation

Hi all, I just joined MFP this week as I am looking for that extra support system to lose weight. After reading through some of the forums, I can see what a huge impact this site has had on peoples' weight loss journeys and I am excited to get the most out of it. I am generally a pretty private person, so even posting in a public forum is a big step for me, but I figure I might as well dive in head first. I am 25, and I have always been on the bigger side. I am a former water polo player and since then I have been a casual exerciser, but I have never been meticulous about watching what I eat, which is my downfall. Now, I'm 5'7'', 250 lbs and looking to lose at least 90 lbs, which would make me the smallest I've been in my adult life.

Today I started the 30 day shred, in addition to the couch to 5K app which my boyfriend and I have been doing for the past week. Anyone who wants to connect with me so we can support each other, or maybe virtually motivate each other, that would be great! If anyone has any helpful tips, throw them at me! :)

  • Hey and welcome to MFP! I'm pretty new here as well and can definitely relate to your situation. I'm 23 years old, 5'10" and 216 lbs, trying to lose 50 lbs. I used to do sports as well, but after I quit I wasn't very good at exercising regularly. After 2 weeks of actively using MFP I think that has changed and I'm also more conscious about what I eat now :-)

I'm actually also doing 30DS (done with day 13) and C25K (starting week 2), so feel free to add me for motivation! What app is it that you are using btw? I don't know which I should go for..

Im always looking for new friends in similar situations for support and motivation.
Im at day 8 of 30 Day Shred, and last week I finished C25K. Even though I finished the program its made me enjoy my jogs in the morning and I now try beat my own times or distances, or find friends to have mini competitions with.

Feel free to add me :)

the app I used for C25k was "Ease into 5k".....worked pretty well. You find yourself swearing at the voice on it after a while, when it tells you its time to run :P

Hi am new to MFP too, I have been doing it for three weeks now, and along with a fitness program of gym exercise three times and week and walking 4 or 5 times a week I seem to eve be loosing the blubbier side of me behind.

I am 5'8", 32 years old and before starting MFP weighed 205lbs. I am would like to lose 50lbs to get down to my superfit weight. I used to be very active and sporty and over the last three years due to changes in my career I am not so active anymore and along with having a baby I piled on the pounds!

I would be grateful of a diet buddy to help keep me motivated and hopefully be able to do the same in return.

  • Hello and welcome to MFP. I've been a member for a little over two weeks now and I'm officially addicted! I also used to be very active in my younger days and due to, well life in general, I got out of the habit and of course put on some very unwanted weight. Congrats on the start of a new chapter in your life. Please feel free to add me for mutual encouragement. I looked at doing the C25K app as well, but I haven't committed to it yet so I would be very interested to see how it goes for you. Good luck and here's to a healthier and more fit YOU!

Welcome aboard! I'm shootin to lose 95 lbs, and have been on here for a couple weeks now. It is definitely helpful and having friends is ohsomotivating AND it's very inspiring to read and see others successes! Add me if you'd like :D
  • Hey there, I'm super new and super excited....As busy as my schedule is and how much I move around, it has really dumbfounded me on how this weight has crept on. Im not a yo-yo dieter but since leaving high school and a grueling track schedule years and years ago, its been an uphill battle maintaining my weight....now the hill has gotten steeper because I now have to lose quite a bit....Please add me if you're motivated and would like someone in your circle that will give that extra push when you need it.

Hey welcome to MFP. I'm also looking for some friends on here for support and encouragement, I have a problem of binging and blowing my exercise calories, but I know we can help each other!

    I sent a friend request.
