hiya...

im on a daily intake of 1200 calories and just wondering how much is safe to be under/ over and still be losing weight?

i find im always under my daily calorie allowance and when i record my daliy dairy its always telling me im not eatting enough, so i try and get as close as i can...
but im just thinking with other diets like Weight Watcher you have a Min/Max allowance IYKWIM

so im just wonder what everyone else does? how much below or above your allowance do you allow yaself to get.. and do you still lose weight?

Its not healthy to go under, your putting your body into starvation mode. Make sure you eat your 1200 a day.

Do you "eat" your exercise calories and still stay under 1200? How far under are you? Its not good to continuously stay under 1200 a day particularly if you're working out. Your body will revolt at some point. Its not about how fast you lose the weight (although fast would be nice) its about how you change your life style to let you lose weight and keep it off. If you're not hungry switch to higher calorie options of what your already eating...low fat instead of non-fat.

There's no way you can eat exactly 1200 calories every day. Even if MFP says you have, I guarantee it's not exact unless you weigh every single thing you eat. If you're over a little, or under a little, it won't hurt. The idea is eating an average of 1200 a day. And no, if you eat 1150 instead of 1200, you will not go into starvation mode. If you're under a few days in a row, try to be slightly over for a day to even it out.

Go to goals and look at "calories burned from normal daily activity" As long as you eat less than that you will lose weight, but be sure not to eat less than1200 cals as it is difficult to get the required micro and macro nutrients on less.

    thanks guys :)

in the beginning i was adv around 700/800 calories per day ( im not a big eatter thats my main problem, been on lots of medication for chronic back pain over the years that supressed my hunger, which slowed my matablisim right down)

but im making a bigger effort to try and get as close to 1200 as i can, ie switching non fat to low fat .. and i do weigh every food i use for cooking etc, make my meals sep. to my familys.. so i know what im doing and i always put a few calories extra to make sure im covered

and no i dont eat back my excerise calories...

I am at 1200 calories a day, and I try to stay within that. I was weighing everything. The last few weeks I have not counted my calories, but I've been doing it a while that I know my calories pretty much, so I've still lost weight. Back to logging calories in today though.

If you are having problems hitting your daily goal, try eating foods that are more calorie dense... i.e. have more cals in a similar volume when compared to other foods. Foods like fruit and veggies are great, but they are generally calorie light. Look for foods high in at least 2 of the 3 macro catagories (fat, carb, protein).

    Nuts/seeds
    Beans/legumes
    fish
    beef
  • It's difficult to lose weight fast. When you drop the calorie intake of your body, it will go into an emergency shut down mode where it will attempt to retain the calories you have. You will have no energy and end up being sick. There are a few methods around that work, such as http://www.specialistdietreport.com/news/xtreme-fat-loss-diet/ but just be careful.

This isn't exactly how it works...
