Pounds into Stones?

how do i work out pounds into stones? i thought u just divided the amount of lbs by 14 but its making me weigh less then i am?

    divide your pound bodyweight by 14.00

    You divide by 14. What numbers are you using? I'm not sure where you're going wrong...

    yes there are 14 pounds in a stone. I tend to multiply rough number of stones by 14 and then add to get to number. As a straight division gives you remainder in decimal form so not in pounds. ie 13.4 stones isn't 13 stone 4pounds!

    im doing this and its making me weigh less!

    i weigh 11 stone and 11 lbs

    which is 165 lbs but when i divide this by 14 it says i am 11 stone 8 aaaaah confused???

    165 / 14 = 11.8

    .8 x 14 = 11

    11 stone 11 pounds.

    It's using decimal - it's saying 11.8 stone, not 11 stone 8lb (0.8 of a stone is 0.8 x 14 = 11lb)

    11 x 14 = 154 lb

    take 154 from your 165 and you have 11 left.

    Best to alway work out the nearest whole stone, and then see how many pounds are left.

    I think it's helpful when more than one person explains it actually. Maybe your explanation is easier for some people to understand and others would understand mine better.
