Has anyone else had this happen.....

Hey mfp friends!!! I have a question for you....do you feel like your heart is fluttering or skipping a beat? I have since last weekend. I stopped working out last week thursday because i couldn't make it through my workout. I got really short or breath, and couldn't continue, and I've been doing this zumba routine for 6 months now. Last Saturday I got a really bad migraine and threw up all night. Then from Sunday on I've been having this heart thing...is it something you are experiencing as well because of losing weight, or could it be something different?

Everyone keeps telling me it's normal, and caused my caffeine, and I don't drnk pop or anything, so where would all the caffeine be coming from?

Get to a doctor and get checked out!!
  • Okay. First thing: call your doctor or go to the Emergency Room! That's it! My best friend's brother had a small heart attack last week at 33 with no previous signs. Started it out with heartburn and throwing up!

I'm not saying you have a heart condition but why chance it? I sometimes have fluttering but I never experienced being out of breath and vomiting....this just sounds wrong. I am a medical office administrator and if a patient would call my office with symptoms like these I would tell them to hang up with me, call a friend and go to the nearest Emergency to check the situation.

    Take care.

Seriously, who is saying that is normal?

Get it checked out. Your heart is an amazing organ, but it can go wrong.

Go to doctor. If not in, go to a doc in box/ urgent care.

This is not normal! There are several things that could be going on with your heart. It could be anything from angina, high blood pressure to a cardiac arrhythmia. Do not take any chances. There are tests that can be done that will tell you whether or not there is an actual problem. Instead of guessing or waiting to drop dead on the floor go to your family doctor and have a full cardiac assessment!

But the heart thing is still going on? I would definitely call back at this point. Calling won't hurt anything, but putting it off might.

This, and also, your doctor sounds like an idiot. As a rule if there is something going on with a patient that the PATIENT feels is a concern, the doctor should see you as soon as he/she can. To write it off as a non-issue before even hearing it/feeling it/seeing it happen or what-have-you is an idiotic thing to do and can cause a huge lawsuit on their part if something related were to happen, and rightfully so. I would think about switching doctors while you're at it, or perhaps, if your insurance allows, asking to see a specialist (in this case, a cardiologist.)

    ^^ THIS! Seriously...

My husband had this happen shortly before he had a heart attack...I'm not saying there is a link, but it's always best to be safe when it comes to your heart.

It sounds like you're having heart palpitations, which on their own are not that huge of a deal, but it's ALWAYS worth getting checked out when it comes to vital organs like your heart. Basically, you don't gamble on chest pains or abdominal pains.

I used to have heart palpitations every day until I got my blood pressure under control. Sometimes my blood pressure would present as normal, but I had to check it 3-4 times a day to see the big picture.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine, but please look into this.

Also adding, (and this is by no means what is wrong, just a suggestion) do you have a lot of stress/anxieties? This is what was happening to me as well, ended with a three-day hospital stay, a diagnosis of severe anxiety, and script for Paxil. Anxiety and stress can do major things to the body.

I suggest getting a new doctor and going to see them STAT. No good doctor clears your heart over the phone.

Please.................. follow the advice others have given to go to Doctors. I am a Nurse and Paramedic. This is not normal. Though caffeine can cause , when you are working out you are taxing your heart and you need to find out what is causing it to feel over excitable.
  • what is the harm of going to a doctor??? Just go have it really checked out.. i too have had fluttering.. but only occasionally.. the fact that this is a week straight! you really should go.. even if it is only for peace of mind.
  • I agree with everyone else. Go see a doctor today.

You need to see you Dr before you continue. I don't think its the diet unless you are not eating enough.

I agree with other poster check back with your doctor.

There are a lot of things that can cause this. I had really bad palpitations for a couple of months before my wedding, I really thought I was going to have a heart attack or something, it was so bad, couldn't get my breath felt faint once or twice so I went to doc they checked everything all negative, she said it was stress and it would stop after the wedding. I thought she was full of c*ap. Got married and they stopped the next day, haven't had a problem since so I guess she knew what she was talking about after all. I didn't think I was stressed because it was a very relaxed affair but I must have been.

See your doc again just to be on the safe side. If you drink coffee/smoke try stopping for a while as well.

Another thing you might want to look at is your sugar consumption. add it to you macros in your diary to check how much you are eating only the cereal and shortbread you have logged are pretty high in sugar.

My heart used to flutter/skip a beat when I stopped smoking. It was considered "normal" and went away eventually. Your symptoms could be a very clear sign that something is wrong for you, or it could be nothing. Don't freak out but hit up your doctor for more information :)

Definately go to the doctor. or a NEW doctor. I had to go to the ER over xmas about my heart, and even though i am young and otherwise healthy, they took it seriously. Even when it all looked ok, I still had to go have an echocardiogram and thyroid tests. Seriously. GO to the doctor.
