Yesterday I ran a 5k (a course I was told was unlikely to PR on because it was narrow and hard to pass people, and parts of it were "off road"). Guess what?! I PR'd. My new best 5k time is 33:55. I realize for most people that is pokey but I am so proud of myself!

The beautiful thing about running is that you are your own biggest coach, motivator AND competition

Way to PR! Whatever your best times are, whether "slow" by comparison to some of these mega athletes or not, are your own best times and by beating them over time, race after race, eventually you may become one of those mega atheletes without knowing it

I am almost 55 years old, an avid walker, struggling runner. I have only done 5K's most of them walking, with a small amount of running. I have neuropathy in my right foot so this really has been a challenge, that said best 5K

What's with all the qualifications before your time? OWN IT! That's brilliant, and you are finishing 5K a lot faster than all of those people on the couch!

Give yourself some credit! You ROCK!

  • Fastest 5k: 25:52
    Fastest 10K 56:xx (been a couple of years since I've run a 10k)
    Fastest 13.1: 1:54:32
Fastest 26.2: 4:52 - I've only run one and it was the Walt Disney World - close to 25 minutes of photo ops in that time. HAHA Running my 2nd in April, hoping to run about a 4:15.
