I do! I include my favorites such as pizza, pasta, sweets, and so on..but make sure for the most part, its in my calorie allowance. Does anyone else do the same?

Heck yea! I have tried to cut out foods 100% in the past and I always failed. This time I have decided that I need to have a healthy relationship with food. To me, that means learning how to have the foods I have always loved and make them fit into a healthier lifestyle. I have already stuck with this longer then normal without a binge so something is going right!0 -
Add me to the list
I'm never giving up my pizza, chips and sweet treats!!!!0 -
That's what I'm learning to do. I definitely know from past experience that cutting something out completely will just lead to a binge down the road. If I want a piece of pizza, I just have one and make sure I have a delicious salad on the side and a piece of fruit. Or if I want some chocolate I just have a small bit of really good quality chocolate.0

Definitely! There is no way I would want to deny my favourite things. I'd be miserable! As long as it works into my calorie allowance (and even sometimes when it doesn't), I let myself enjoy the goodies. But, I'm not a big eater so it's never been much of an issue...0

Yes, I do! This has been integral to my success. Every time I have tried a 'deprive myself of <insert food here>' diet, I end up in a binge/deprive cycle.0

Definitely do this.0

I eat in moderation!!! There is no way I could make this a permanent lifestyle change if I didn't!!0

ME! I can't imagine having done it any other way.
I met my goal of losing 51 pounds without giving up anything I enjoyed. I watched portion sizes and total calories, but I still ate pizza, burgers, cupcakes, cheese, wine and other indulgent foods. (of course I ate lots of healthy foods, too)
I also went very slow and followed the guidelines to lose just half a pound a week. 1200 calories a day was something I was simply not willing to do.0 -
*raises hand*
I eat whatever I want as long as I have enough calories for it. I couldn't give up pizza and chocolate. nom nom nom.0 -
Me! I allow myself yummy food, but I never go over my calorie allowance.
I'm also learning to make my favourite treats better for me - eg: cupcakes made from apple sauce? WIN!0 -
I follow the "If it fit in my macros" diet. Basically I have a minimum protien and fat goal, and a maximum calories goal. Once I hit that, I get to eat the rest of my calories in whatever I want, sometimes healthy, sometimes not.
Min Protein = 1 gram for every pound of lean body weight.
Min Fat = 0.3 grams for every pound of total body weight.
But right now, I'm trying to gain muscle so eating at a calorie level above maintenance.0 -
I eat everything by the serving size (sometimes less depending on what it is) I rarely go over my calorie allowance.0

ME! Couldn't do this any other way! :happy:0

I am and I have lost 10 lbs in the last 3 weeks or so. I cannot completely cut something out when I live in a household that no one else is dieting. The temptation is always there but I cannot tell my mother not to buy something. My husband will not let me deprive myself what I want because he knows that I will just go nuts down the road and go back to the same weight. It is all about moderation. I am not sure how some people can go completely clean without going nuts.0

When I first started on my weight loss journey, I had to have restrictions on the food I ate. But now that I am in maintance mode, I can not imagine not eating what I want when I want. A bit is all I need.0

It's the only way to keep sane and realistically make this a "life change" instead of a "diet"0

Me!!! I eat a lot too. I've learned what I can eat more of to fill myself up without going over my calories for the day. Of course, I've been noticing lately that because I've cut back on how much of bad stuff I eat, that I'm having a harder time getting to my calorie goal, so I find it gives me room to treat myself with something every day. But we have pizza once a week, I make burgers (on the george forman grill) all the time, I eat cheese, chocolate, cookies....I just learned to watch how much of each I should eat at a time, and I make myself stop.0
-
Me too, for sure. I've tried cutting out "bad" things before but then something would happen and I'd fall of the wagon. This time I don't even want there to be a wagon for me to fall off, so for me it means allowing myself anything. And personally, now I know I -can- have anything I don't even WANT half the stuff I used to. Or, well, I want it in one sense but can't justify 'spending' the calories on it, so I make another choice and I'm happy doing it. Same as other people have said, it's a lifestyle choice this time0
-
I've done too many "diets" and failed, so this time I'm eating whatever I want, only I stick to my portion sizes and I don't go over my calories and its working. For the first time, I haven't quit. Granted it's probably taking longer for me to lose than if I was more strict, but I can live with that...and I have to, because this is a life-style change not a fad.:bigsmile:0

I do, but do try to find ways to make the things I want healthier. But if I want it I don't deprive myself of it, just make sure I do extra working out to make up for it.0
